While firearms have been used in Marshall, Texas for centuries, the first handguns were purchased here on October 25, 1882. The first shooting of a revolver took place at the old town square on November 7th of that year. A team of six men from Marshall shot a deer with pistols and shotguns. These early days saw sporadic gunfights between various ranching and farming communities in and around Marshall. In 1903, the city ofMarshall was founded by promoter/businessman William H. Ferguson who desired to provide an entertainment district within the limits of his new city. In response to this demand, the City Council authorized Mr. Ferguson to open up a garage and sell rifles and shotguns to citizens for use in self-defense or hunting purposes only. It should be noted that at this time there were no handgun laws in Texas! Ferguson operated The Gun Emporium until 1906 when he sold it to Ira Deitchfield who renamed it the Arlington Arms Exchange Building annex store which still stands today located at 2nd Street & High Street in Arlington Heights, Illinois (now part of Chicago). On January 1st 1907 Arlington Arms had its first successful sale with $1,000 worth of firearms being sold including revolvers and Shotguns by John Waddell from Oldham County PA USA as well as Purdy’s Pistol Shop from Wichita Falls TX USA arming residents for police duty during prohibition days . From then until 1916 when state law changed banning open carry outside homes (in violation of previous handgun sales),Arlington Arms offered reasonable shipping on orders over $50 with orders placed before 12pm CST weekdays except holidays . Arlington Arms also conducted hunter/gun show events annually beginning in 1909 which drew participants from all over Texas and beyond ........... rifle shows continued through 1914 with major changes becoming pistol shows

Not only did this provide jobs for local residents but also helped keep businesses open during an era when liquor sales were outlawed throughout most of America.Marshall was also home to one of Texas' earliest rodeo events when Native Americans staged a protest against white efforts to take their land for development purposes near present-day Wichita Falls on October 15th 1903

Marshall, Texas is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,142 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Marshall post office has been in operation since 1892. Marshall first came to prominence as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail and later became an important center for cattle culture and ranching. The town was founded by Obadiah Marshall in 1841 as a stopping place on the route from San Antonio to Lubbock. In 1865, after Mexican Americans were forced out of East Texas following Reconstruction efforts, Marshall became home to many white settlers who also began developing land around it for agriculture or other uses. By 1930, only about 60% of the original population remained in Marshallsville; most of its citizens had relocated to larger towns within Johnson County or outside of Texas during that time period. During World War II, Marshall served as an airfield adjacent to Fort McNair in Dallas; it was one of few United States military installations open to civilians at that time. After the war ended in 1945, many locals left for various reasons (most notably competition from nearby Dallas), but some residents returned years later when Fort McNair closed its doors for good and reopened as Trinity International Airport. Many new businesses cropped up around McNair over the years—including two grocery stores—and today much of what once occupied McNairs parking lot is used for retail development around airport property."

The oil boom of the 1920s and 1930s created a demand for workers in oil production and Marshall became one of the most industrialized cities in Texas. during World War II, Marshall played an important role as a munitions plant; it produced over 150 million rounds of ammunition. The economy declined after the war but has since recovered with new development in nearby Tyler and Grand Prairie
