Marshall, Texas is a small town in Kleberg County, Texas, United States. The population was 907 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston metropolitan area. The name Marshall comes from James Marshall, who came to America in 1836 and became a land speculator and cattle breeder in what is now Kleberg County. He also developed a cotton gin in nearby Tomball. In 1894, he donated land to the city of Houston for development as a new township. In 1925, whenHouston merged with Galveston to form theTXCentral CityRegion (TCR), Marshall became one of its five townships. The original town site included present-day Marshall and portions of Spring Branch and Dickinson counties. The town's first official building was built on what is now Broadway Avenue. The post office at Marshall was established on November 12, 1895, by order of Mayor Prentice Mclntyre—the first postmaster general intxedicated withintxCincinnati proper—in memory of his father-in-law Wm Hoggarty (1820–92). A second Post Office was opened at Dickinson on December 15th 1896 by order of Mayor Jno Haskell (1863–1934). With such rapid growth around Homestead Gulch (present day White Oak Bayou), it seemed logical that another stop be made near the center of town so more people could get services and goods without having to go out into rural areas surrounding it. In 1920s there were three churches: First Presbyterian Church on Main Street; Second Presbyterian Church across US 90 from Uptown; Methodist EpiscopalChurch down Market Street from the old courthouse on State street between Polk & Mason Streets which had been used as an jail until 1905 when it closed due to lack of inmates available then and later becoming home for some high school students before being torn down during WW II because Franklin D Roosevelt moved into 1600 Pennsylvania avenue NW after his inauguration) Marshall has always been about agriculture with many homes still used for growing crops today including a grocery store/cafeteria operated by The Grapes family since 1955 . This gave way to retail businesses like Lowe's Homes beginning production here starting in 1960s thanks largely to local entrepreneur Vernon McGee who managed both restaurants/stores along with subdivisions providing homesites back then

Marshall, Texas was founded in 1879 by Captain George C. Marshall and his brother John A. Marshall as a ranching community to the east of Lubbock. The town grew rapidly due to its strategic location near the San Antonio, Austin, and New Mexico Railroad, as well as its natural resources such as cattle and oil.
