In 1925–27, while still within Dallas County limits, Mansfield experienced one of Americas most dramatic judicial events when General Motors Corporation moved its corporate headquarters from Detroit to Arlington Heights then Oak Cliff before eventually moving again in 1970 to Arlington Heights again where it remains today as one of North America's largest companies with more than 1 million employees worldwide including 350ranchs around the world The growth ofDallas led to contraction within Kaufman County during the 1930s with few new homes being built until World War II when development resumed significantly with over 60 housing units erected between 1940 and 1945 alone including 10 immediately adjacent to downtown Mansfield The Korean War brought increased activity as many families relocated eastward into newly developed cities such as Irving or Plano while others decided to stay put because they could find jobs hereabouts only later finding out that there were no available job openings east of IH 35 . Mansfield is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 14,711 at the 2010 census. Mansfield is the second largest city in Tarrant County after Fort Worth. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and is located on the east side of Interstate 20. The town was founded in 1876 by pioneers Donnell Mansfield and his wife Phebe Richardson as a crossroads on the Red River between present-day Mansfield and Arlington. In 1881, Mansfield became an incorporated town with a post office, which moved to its current location in 1892. The first store opened here in 1886. In 1901, Henry Clay Frick came to Mansfield from Wichita Falls and started Jardine Wagon Wheel Co., one of many successful businesses founded during this time by Texan entrepreneurs such as Frick and others like him who had come west to establish themselves as leaders in their industry. One of Frick's sons, Harry A., would become one of Mansfield's most prominent citizens and notable civic leader through his roles as mayor (1912–1914), president (1945) of Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), and chairman emeritus (1994) of the board of trustees for Baylor University’s McNeese School District No. 1 campus.
