The General was responsible for leading an unsuccessful attempt to conquer Mexico City during the Mexican-American War and is considered one of Texas' pioneer leaders. He also played a key role in helping create Mansfeldback Cemetery, one of earliest cemeteries in Texas. In addition to his gravesites within Masons Hill Cemetery,General Houston can be found at rest at West Point Military Academy where he graduated with distinction as captain before serving two terms as Lieutenant Colonel commanding militia forces against Apache Indian raids near Tucson Arizona Territory (1846-48). 1

Mansfield, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. Mansfield is located on the border of Hood County and Williamson County. It straddles the county line between the two counties. The name "Mansfield" originated from a post office that was established in 1872. The first settler who lived in Mansfield was John A. Mansfield Sr., who arrived in 1875 from Maryland. In 1887, G. Wray McAteer moved to Mansfield and started a grocery store which became one of the largest businesses in town until it closed its doors in 1990. The city of Mansfield now occupies most of the site of McAteer's grocery store and many other buildings were either destroyed or sold for development along State Highway 114 which runs through town today; including an old jail that has been turned into apartments and a recreation center called "Hood County High". In 1911, Prentice Hogg settled his family here after leaving Clarksville, Tennessee with his bride Belle Hogg (1893-1973). They bought 640 acres (248 hectares) northeast of town near what is now US 281/State Highway 114 for $14 per acre ($2/acre). This land had been donated by Judge Isaac Aspinall - father-in-law of George Wray McAteer - as part of a gift given to him by Judge Aspinall's widow several years earlier when he purchased 4 square miles (10 km2) adjacent to present day MansFIELD from James Kenedy and others for $3 per acre ($0.25/acre). With this purchase Aspinall laid out what would become central mansFIELD on high ground overlooking both Hood Creek Valley to the east and Hickory Hollow Valley to the west."

It became the county seat of Potter County in 1907. The state capital of Texas moved from Austin to Austin in 1911 and then to Dallas in 1923. In 1930, Mansfield merged with the neighboring town of Palestine to form a new city block. The first store in Mansfield opened on Main Street on July 6, 1879 by brothers Joel Wharton and John Mansfield. The two young men pooled their money to open the first store and soon started selling goods such as saddles, wagon parts, and farming supplies to farmers nearby. They also erected a small frame building for storage and sold goods door-to-door until they had enough money to build a larger store adjacent on Third Street in 1886 which they named "Wharton's Place". In 1907, when Potter County was created from portions of Medina and Travis Counties (then part of Uvalde), MansFIELD became its county seat because it was more centrally located than either Medina or Travis counties' other towns. In 1930, when Mansfield merged with Palestine to form a new city block, it became one of several cities that were combined into one municipality within the newly formed Dallas metropolitan area - thus marking an early example of suburbanization across many large American cities during the 1920s and 1930s. As this process unfolded throughout much of Texas during this time period - including Austin - smaller towns gradually lost their significance as county seats while big cities like Dallas grew increasingly powerful due to their size and ability to provide services such as transportation, job opportunities, education etc.. Today's economy is based largely upon professional jobs associated with government service areas like law enforcement/judicial work or health care/social assistance; however there are still some small businesses scattered throughout downtown which continue providing essential services related directly or indirectly to local residents: grocery stores; mechanics; janitorial companies; dry cleaner/laundry places...etc..
