Mansfield, Texas is a small town in north-central Texas that straddles the border of the U.S. state of Oklahoma and Mexico. The population was 8,847 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Mansfield is home to Central Methodist University and The Mansfield School District. The town was founded in 1875 by John Clements and others as a cattle ranch on what is now Interstate 20 near present-day Mansfield Road. In 1907, the town name was changed to honor General James Biddle, commander of United States Cavalry forces during World War I who had died in battle two years earlier while fighting in Mexico City as part of American Expeditionary Force under General Pershing. In 1927, when Interstate 20 was established, it ran through central Mansfield and portions of nearby Richardson Hills; consequently, much development took place south of I-20 until only Richardson Hills remains today. The original post office operated from 1875 to 1907; however, it consolidated with other towns within one year following its incorporation and no longer exists as an official municipal building still extant in Mansfield today (though a historical marker does). In NFHS school district rankings for 2014-2015 (published in November 2015), Mansfield placed first among all Dallas-Fort Worth ISD districts for "academically excellent" schools - both public & private - based on student test scores achieved by students enrolled throughout ninth grade across all campuses combined statewide including downtown DFW & satellite campuses across TXL suburbsites: McAllen (10th rank), Arlington (9th rank), Farmers Branch (6th rank), Plano (5th rank) & Temple Hill/Temple Oak (4th rank). Additionally, NAEP report ranks Manns field 5th out of 100 public high schools nationwide among 9-year olds math achievement norms! Mansfields rich history began early with settlers coming overland from Kansas City through Haskell County eastward into what is now northern Mesquite County before continuing west along the Rio Grande River valley floor into southern Potter County where they founded some small settlements such as Red Rock Creek Station on January 6, 1868 according to oral history research done by Drs Donny Seibert & Chris Hixon at Hughes Ranch State Park outside Fort Worth Thereafter many more pioneers followed suit over time meeting along US Highway 80 which became known as Trail OF Tears due to many families making the crossing seeking land unknown or too rugged for farming or ranching but instead becoming refugees fleeing Indian Wars & Civil War violence

Mansfield is a town in Brown County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,451 at the 2010 census. Mansfield was founded in 1885 by brothers John and George Mansfield. The original name of the town was "Prairie View." In 1907, when Prairie View A&M University moved to Mansfield from Prairie View, Texas, the town changed its name to "Mansfield" in honor of the university. In 1955, voters passed a resolution proclaiming Mansfield an official city. On July 1, 1957, the city council approved changes to its charter that made it an independent city with full voting rights and local governing body separate from Brown County government. On December 6, 2009- just days before Christmas- Brown County Judge Royce Lamberth ordered all departments closed due to a lack of funding forChristmas Programs by the Brown County Commissioners Court; this order caused major traffic backups on Highway 288 which hindered access to many homes and businesses throughout central Mansfield. On December 9th Lamberth issued another order stating that all department heads were required to come into court on January 3rd for their related cases (including employee benefits) as part of their budget negotiations; these orders caused even more traffic backups on Highway 288 which inhibited access to many homes and businesses throughout central MansFIELD again
Mansfield, Texas was founded in 1847 by John S. Mansfield. The town grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, thanks to its location on the Red River. In 1907, Mansfield became the capital of Texas.
