In 1906, Lumberton entrepreneur J.B. Sprague patented a new type of logging truck, the bipod truck. The bipod truck was designed to allow logs to be transported more quickly and efficiently across long distances by using two large wheels instead of one small wheel. This innovation allowed Lumberton to become the leading lumber town in Texas. The bipod truck also made it possible for Lumberton to become a major center for sawmill production. By 1950, Lumberton had become the largest sawmill town in Texas and was responsible for manufacturing over 60% of allLOGGING Trucks used in Texas at that time! Today, there are still many businesses located in Lumberton that use the bipod truck as their primary mode of transportation. In addition, the tradition of woodworking continues unchanged inLumberton thanks to the many talented woodworkers who live and work here!

It is bordered by Harrison to the north, east, and south; and Throckmorton to the west. The first settler in what became Lumberton was James Hargrave who came from England in 1837. He named his new land "Lumberton" after his home town of London. The community began to grow rapidly during the mid 1800s due to its strategic location as a major transportation hub on the Pacific Railway network. By 1900 lumber had become an important part of local economy and sawmills were established throughout the community. At that time Lumberton boasted more than 30 businesses with a combined payroll size exceeding $1 million per year! By 1920 Lumberton had reached its peak with a population of 3,000 people living in 146 homes! However during World War II much ofLumbernton's industry decayed or went out of business which resulted in a decline in population until around 2000 when it stabilized again at 1,800 residents

Lumberton, Texas is a small town located in the County of Webb in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,251 at the 2000 census. Lumberton is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. It is a rural community located on a small strip of land between two mountain ranges that runs east-west. The town center is about one mile from its eastern edge and about one mile from its western edge. Lumberton was founded by John Pemberton in 1868 as an agricultural settlement on the banks of Buffalo Bayou just north of what is now I-35 and Loop 410 (now I-35W). The name "Lumberton" originated with John's father, Daniel Pemberton, who had named his farm "Lumber Hill" after his home country, Scotland. In 1876 Lumberton became known as "The Philippines Settlement." In 1916 it became part of Webb County when it was created from parts of Mayfield and Hidalgo counties. In 1930 Lumberston merged with neighboring Milam to form an unincorporated community called Timberline which continues to exist today as a separate entity within Webb County government
Lumberton was founded in 1859 by a band of settlers. The town grew rapidly due to the influx of miners and their families, as well as the lumber industry. In 1870, Lumberton became a county seat and was named for General James Lumber. By 1920, the population had increased to 11,000 and it was renamed Timberline County. It experienced major growth during World War II when the community became an airfield servicing aircraft manufacturing plants in nearby Wichita Falls. However, after the war ended, Lumberton struggled to keep up with the growth of Wichita Falls and other towns in the county. It lost its status as a county seat in 1970 and reverted back to its original name of Timberline County.
