Lumberton, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It has been home to a gunsmith shop and Ammunition factory since 1892. The ammunition factory was known as the Lumberton Arsenal. The arsenal produced artillery shells, rifle rounds, pistols, revolvers and other firearms for use by the military and law enforcement. The arsenal closed in 1903 but continued to produce ammunition under different names until it was sold to Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1929. In 1933, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company which merged with Samford Firearms Manufacturing Co. of Birmingham Alabama in 1938 to form Remington Arms Corporation. From 1938-1946, Ammo production took place at the Smith & Wesson plant located in Memphis Tennessee before moving back to Lumberton on October 1st of 1946 when it became part of the newly formed Western Ammunition Corporation (WAC). In 1990 Western Ammunition Corporation merged with Academy Defense Industries Incorporated (ADI) forming Academy Ammunition Corporation (AAC). AAC produces all types of reloadable ammo including 223/5gr JHP bullets and 5mmx39mm ACP bullets.
