In Lubbock, Texas, the history of firearms begins with the first shots fired in the town on November 5, 1881. The event was a battle between Texans and Indian forces that lasted for three days. The Texan militia was able to shoot down many of the Indians with cannon fire, but they were not able to kill all of them. As a result, there were some casualties on both sides. One Indian fighter died from his wounds and another was captured alive. This is one of the earliest known accounts of gunfights in Lubbock. The first rifle in Lubbock was bought by A C Moffett on October 31, 1883. At that time there were only shotguns available for purchase in the town. The rifle was paid for with goods that Moffett had saved from his job as a farmhand. It is unclear when or how this rifle came into use in Lubbock; however it is likely it was used at some point during its history here. One of Lubbock's most famous residents is probably George Armstrong Custer who fought at Little Bighornmberg Territory War on April 24, 1876 - July 26, 1877 and received the Medal Of Honor for gallantry while actioning against Native American warriors near Fort Reno on July 26th

Lubbock, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Hudspeth County. The area now known as Lubbock was once part of Mexico City's Rancho de las Pulgas (Pulgas Ranch). The land for Lubbock was acquired from José Antonio Barrera y Valdez by Ramón Félix Chávez in 1881, when he became president of Mexico. After becoming an American territory in 1912, Lubbock became a town under Mexican rule until it regained independence as a U.S. state in 1912. The first post office at Lubbock was established on February 14, 1879, with Wm W.[?] Woodruff serving as its first postmaster. That same year saw the opening of what would become one of Lubbocks most important landmarks: The White Sulphur mine which produced silver ore until 1953; and also founded what later became Baylor University and several other businesses including Texaco (now ExxonMobil) and Eastland Airlines based there before moving to their current sites in downtown today. In 1902 A&P grocery store opened across from Baylor University – one of only two grocery stores operating outside Wichita Falls at that time – before being integrated into Austin's Mockingbird Grocery chain some years later when that company merged with Bob Evans supermarkets through mergers and acquisitions throughout much of North America including operations here including building this old warehouse on Main Street where we stand today! Many famous people were born or raised here such as Sam Cooke (the singer), Jerry Lee Lewis (the guitarist), Willie Dixon (the bluesman), Cliff Richard (the pop singer) etc., among others!
