Longview is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas, bordered by Amarillo to the east and northwest, Wichita Falls to the north, Longview Hills to the northeast, and Midlothian to the south. The early history of Longview can be traced back to 1872 when members of The Republic Party founded a short-lived town called "Longhorn" on what is now State Highway 10A in what is now Midlothian Township. In 1876 it became part of Adair County and in 1907 it became part of Cameron County. The first post office was established at Longview on November 12th, 1886. In 1911 Lubbock Independent School District (later Lubbock Independent School District No. 2) moved from its original location about two miles east of Longview into what is now downtown LongVIEW due to overcrowding within districts in rural areas being forced by state legislators into admitting more students than could be accommodated within district boundaries without causing huge taxpayer expenses for new infrastructure and school buildings needed for larger schools (the original LISD building still stands today). With an enrollment growth rate that outpaced that of any other school district in Texas during this time period, centralizing school administration within a single organization allowed for expanded resources necessary for educational success as well as increased efficiency since no individual teacher or administrator could spend too much time inside their own house instead trying to keep up with changing pupil trends across all six elementary/middle/high schools located within walking distance from each other – which made attendance TCK “one continuous educational experience” according to Superintendent James Jansen long after his retirement from public education altogether… A prominent group including future Governor John Connally contributed $5,000 towards construction costs resulting in a cornerstone being laid July 7th 1915 followed by dedication ceremonies held at Adair High School on October 4th 1916 conducted by then First Lady Mabel Tilton; President Wilson delivered remarks upon inaugurating Ewing Air Force Base which was operational September 1918 less than one week before World War I started As Texans began exodus during 1919 Waco Riot following disputed election results along Red River Arkansas border+, many people who had originally settled around Lubbock turned westward seeking opportunity as oil fields were discovered near Wichita Falls and Refugio also beckoned newcomers drawn thereto by promises made over social dances given out free BBQs sponsored annually at various civic events throughout Polk County gatherings known as Fairs where Ladies would personally invite people they knew attending dances wearing large colorful hats bearing placards reading “Oil Fields? Not So Far From Here!” indicate interest or activity centered around oil & gas fracking operations prevalent adjacent sour gas production area immediately adjacent both towns situated on margins separating otherwise largely agricultural countiesMidland & Archer Counties fracked until very recently

Longview is a city in and the county seat of Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 83,397 at the 2010 census. In 1827, three brothers named George Washington Long and James Bowie established what would become Longview as a small farming community on the south bank of Buffalo Bayou. The town grew slowly until 1880 when it became an important railroad junction due to its location on the Central Railway. After coming under ownership of various families over time, Longview was incorporated as a city in 1907. It enjoyed rapid growth during World War I with its production of munitions factories and shipbuilding yards; however, by 1920 the economy had begun to decline and by 1930 it had fallen short of financial support from outside sources. With Hubert Humphrey's win in 1968 that ended Reconstructionism in America, Longview began to face challenges from heavy industry and high-density development within its borders which have continued to this day. In 1990, after several rounds of redevelopment led by Mayor Sheri Hallaqen (D), Longview became one of Texas' most successful cities for economic growth despite occasional setbacks such as budget deficits or public opposition to new industrial projects
Longview was founded by pioneers in 1836. The town was named for General George Long, a hero of the Mexican-American War and United States Senator from Virginia. The first post office in Longview was established in 1837. By 1840, the population of Longview had reached 200 residents. In 1865, the Union army destroyed the Alamo at San Antonio as part of their victory over Mexico in the Battle of Bexar County. As a result of this event, Longview became an important center for Confederate sympathizers in Texas during the American Civil War.
