Live Oak is a census-designated place in Ellis County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,527 at the 2010 census. It lies within the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and is bordered by Arlington to the north, Grapevine to the east, Austin to the south, and Plano to the west. The town of Live Oak was founded in 1876 by two brothers from Georgia named J.D. and Wm. Crain as part of a new town called Cedar Grove on cattle drives that ran through what is now Dallas County. Cedar Grove was destroyed by a fire in 1877 which burned for days before being extinguished. The brothers rebuilt Cedar Grove and named it Live Oak after a live oak near their home in Georgia where they had been taught to shoot by their father. In 1881, Lula McKay married Sam Houston who donated land in Live Oak for a courthouse and jail complex known as “The Hill” which still stands today on Elm Street just outside of downtown Live Oak. The early settlers were primarily Scots-Irish Catholics who fringed around this area until after World War II when Protestant missionaries came into force and evangelized many of these people with Christianity while also taking away their traditional practices such as Catholicism (which many still practice). In 1925, Lula donated an additional piece of property – what is now Tax Day Park – adjacent to her husband’s land for public use as well as private schools that would later become Baylor University and Rice University; both institutions remain headquartered there today. In 1957, when Ellis County became stateless due to its secession from Texas following the Mexican Revolution, most of LiveOak reverted back under Texan jurisdiction except for certain parcels including The Hill which continued under Mexican rule until 1910 when it reverted back again to Texas control following troops being withdrawn from Mexico. In 1984 annexed by Garland County following its creation from parts of Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex unincorporated areas annexed during those years along with other areas within McKinney Municipal Airport boundaries making it one municipality sized entity encompassing all unincorporated portions of McKinney since its annexation law changed several times between 1947-1984 making it difficult or even impossible to track everything accurately especially since most annexations have never been made official government documents like deeds or tax records yet various community organizations maintain ties with their old annexations nonetheless surprisingly detailed documentation exists about all aspects related directly or indirectly to annexation process here are some examples: Since then Life oak has experienced rapid growth spurt thanks largely due much in part to new subdivisions authorized during TX Legislature's 3rd Session legislation passed overwhelmingly 107 - 0 last year giving residents plenty of opportunity pour over maps & pages online prior 2Elections & start submitting applications anew [link] .
