Live Oak, Texas is a small town located in the eastern part of Texas. The population of Live Oak was estimated at just over 10,000 in 2000. Today, the population has grown to nearly 18,000 residents and live within the boundaries of four municipalities: Live Oak Village, Brushy Creek Estates, Maple Lake Estates and White Sands. Live Oak is located about 20 minutes north of Austin on US-183 and about an hour south of Dallas on I-35W. It is bordered by Brushy Creek Estates to the east; Maple Lake Estates to the west; White Sands municipality to the northwest. The first settlers arrived in what is now Live Oak in 1836. The first post office was established in 1840 and remains open today as Live Oak Village. The community name honors General James Fenton who led cavalry units against Mexican forces during the Texan Revolution (1845-46). Today, much of what makes LiveOak so distinctive has come from its location - it sits atop a hill overlooking downtown Austin! Most importantly though, many people here identify with their local culture and history which helps make this community special.

Live Oak is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tyler–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Live Oak is located on the southern edge of Tyler and on the eastern side of Fort Worth. The first settlers in what is now Live Oak were three families from Georgia who arrived in 1836. The town was named after an oak tree that stood near where it now stands. By 1860, over 100 people lived in Live Oak and it had a post office and two churches. In 1865, Confederate forces burned down most of the town to prevent its capture by Union forces under General George Buell during his attempt to cross the Red River into Texas. East of downtown, only a few buildings remained standing including one known as the "Old fort". In 1870, another group of Texans moved into Live Oak and renamed it for President Ulysses S. Grant because he had been visiting Hudspeth County frequently at that time. By 1880, there were more than 350 residents living in live oak with a school, cotton gin/millinery shop and gristmill among their few amenities. A new courthouse was built between 1887 and 1889 which became infamous for being used as a training ground for local law enforcement officers during Dallas Cowboys football games when they were played at nearby Arlington Stadium (later AT&T Stadium). In 1898-1901 construction began on what would eventually become Memorial Park east of downtown which served as both commercial and residential areas until annexation by Tyler in 1907 resulted in creation of Live Oak proper as well as Fort Worth subsequent to their merger into Dallas metropolitan areariches later came major subdivisions such as Flower Mound through Grapevine within this newly created city limits thereby creating even larger disparities between rich & poor citizens despite similar geography which continues up to present day whereby many zip codes have more Homes per capita than LIVEOak does people
On October 16, 1846, the Republic of Texas was founded by General Sam Houston. The new state was quickly divided into two parts: the Lone Star State and California. On November 1, 1848, the states were combined to form a new United States of America. Live Oak is located in west Texas and is one of its many historical sites.
