Live Oak, Texas is a small town located in the central area of Tarrant County, Texas. The population was 3,749 at the 2010 census. Live Oak is named after a tree in the town center that stands tall and strong. The first people to live in what is now Live Oak were German settlers who arrived in 1836. In 1839, John Sommers built the first cabin on the present-day site of Live Oak. By 1850, there were twelve homes in Live Oak and three churches. The community experienced rapid growth during the early 1800s as local farmers turned to cotton farming for their income. Cotton production began to decline during the 1830s and 1840s due to new methods of cultivation developed by American farmers; however, Live Oak continued to grow because its citizens had resources other than agriculture. In 1856, James McMillin began operating a steamboat service from Corpus Christi that transported goods between Corpus Christi and Lufkin. This allowed for increased trade within Tarrant County and helped spur economic development in LiveOak. By 1870, over fifty businesses flourished in LiveOak with a population of 1,500 people.During World War II, many residents volunteered their time and services to serve in military units throughout Texas including those serving at home with family members who were also fighting overseas. Many residents also supported education prices by contributing money towards college tuition for their children during this time period After World War II ended (1945), many displaced persons returned to live or work in Tarrant County as it became more open from then on following developments such as Interstate 35/I-35E which bypassed much of rural Texas beginning around 1960 . This change created opportunities for businesses and individuals seeking proximity to downtown Dallas or other major metropolitan areas . As more people moved intoLiveOak throughout this period there was an influx of crime which led some residents to form vigilante groups known as "the order" meant primarily against organized crime although some members may have been involved with law enforcement efforts

Live Oak is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 16,912 at the 2010 census. Live Oak is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1876 by colonists from Alabama, and it was named for Live Oak Creek on which the town was built. The creek's name has been used as a symbol of community and brotherhood since the early 1800s. In 1907, Live Oak became the first city in Texas to be granted voting rights by the state legislature. The growth of Live Oak during the late 19th century led to its incorporation as a municipality in 1901. The first mayor of LiveOak was J.B. Hildebrandt and his term ended in 1906 when he ran unsuccessfully for reelection as Mayor with then-City Manager Wm Fenton serving as his replacement. In 1909, Johnnie Cochran won an open primary election to run for Mayor against incumbent Hildebrandt and Wm Fenton with over 60% of the vote after running on a platform including improving education and infrastructure; reducing crime; and creating jobs through land development initiatives such as a water tower or oil well project that would provide income tax revenue to support these goals. Cochran would later become one of America's most successful political candidates with multiple terms representing Dallas County before being elected U S Senator from Georgia in 2014
