In 1837, Fenton passed away but his hat company continued to operate until 1848 when it merged with another hat company to form The Paley Hat Company. This company operated until1968 when it was sold to American Weavers. American Weavers continue to make Hats through 2019.

Little Elm is a city in Texas, located in the Central Valley region of the state. As of the 2010 census, the population was 26,871. Its full name is Little Elm, TX, although it has been spelt "Lemont" since 1883. The economy of Little Elm is based on agriculture and manufacturing. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Little Elm in 1836 and named it "New Madrid," after Vallarta, Mexico City. New Madrid County was created from parts of Tarrant County in 1872. A post office called Lemont was established at this location on October 25, 1883. The town's name derives from a local creek that crossed under Main Street near the old church and store buildings (now known as McKinney Hall). In 1899, Little Elm became an independent municipality when it joined the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. In 1924, Little Elm annexed much of neighboring Arlington Heights to form a new city with a population of 100,000 people—the largest annexation ever by an Austin suburb. That annexation also included most of Garland County to form a new metro area with its own government and services; Garland had been part of DFW since 1901 but had not annexed any other county until then. According to the 2015 American Community Survey conducted by UBS Wealth Management LLP.,Little Elm ranks third among Southwestern cities for having one or more jobs in each 1 million residents aged 15 years or older (behind only Phoenix and Tucson). Industry-based businesses have long dominated economic life here: The percentage of businesses with 10 or more employees has nearly quadrupled over time while manufacturingemployment barely changed between 2000 and 2010; however there are growing indications that services will soon become increasingly important here as well (notably healthcare) as job growth due to population growth (+5%). Overall crime rates are lower than those found elsewhere within Southwestern cities similar sized to Little Elm but remains high relative to other large American cities; violent crime rates increased slightly from 2002 through 2007 but have since decreased (-1%) while property crime rates have stayed relatively stable (+0%.)

Little Elm, Texas is a town in Hidalgo County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,878 at the 2010 census. Little Elm is located on the banks of the Republican River. It began as a small settlement on what is now U.S. Route 59 and was named for Lieutenant Colonel John A. Little, who led Union forces during the Mexican-American War and later served as sheriff of Hidalgo County. In 1881, Little Elm became part of the new county of Hudspeth and was renamed for General Sam Houston by its first president, James Kenedy Lamar. The town has experienced various changes over its history including becoming an agricultural center during the Great Depression; being annexed by Dallas in 1954; suffering through Hurricane Ike in 2008; and experiencing growth following annexation into Arlington Park in 2013. Today, Little Elm remains a vibrant community with a strong sense of community pride that helps to keep it healthy and active year-round.
