The Binoculars History Museum is a small museum in Little Elm, Texas that specializes in the history of binoculars. The museum was founded in 1990 and has since grown to include a collection of over 50,000 binoculars from around the world.
Little Elm is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The post office in Little Elm was established on December 12, 1875, and became operational on January 6, 1876. The name for this town was first given by Colonel John Waddell when he surveyed the area for the new Fort Worth military post (the present-day Arlington Cemetery). At that time there were only a few frame buildings and no sign of any churches or other public buildings. In 1881 Little Elm had a school house and some sheds used as classrooms; but it lacked even one teacher to attend to the children. A subscription library was organized in 1886 with Mr. Elisha Gray as its first president and Mrs. Fannie Goodspeed as its first librarian; but it met with little success because subscriptions were very meager. In 1893 an addition to what is now First Methodist Church building was made using money raised from local sales of postage stamps; but this addition also failed to bring much success until 1916 when an addition totalling $10,000 was accomplished by private donations from citizens who saw potential in it as well as grants from several foundations. In 1903 a large farm field north of town which had been donated by Judge Crain became available when his son-in-law James Hinton leased it from Mrs. Lillie Valentine; and this led to another period of expansion for Little Elm which included the installation of telephones in all public places (this event happened just prior to World War I). But although growth continued apace during these years there were always some people who felt that more could be done—perhaps because they saw too many things happening within their own community that they did not have control over or maybe because they simply did not feel comfortable speaking up about what they thought should be done differently since their voices would likely not be heard? On July 4, 1925, President Calvin Coolidge dedicated First Baptist Church which seated 2,500 people—the largest congregation ever built within Tarrant County limits at that time! The church served as both a social center and religious venue until 1966 when it closed due to fire damage sustained during later renovation efforts.—During its heyday First Baptist Church hosted receptions for dignitaries such as Presidents Franklin D Roosevelt and Harry Truman.—Today First Baptist Southside Chapel provides worship services for all ages inside Second Presbyterian Church across Main Street.—Since 1985 Bishop’s University has offered evening classes leading up to seminary degrees.} As early settlers began arriving here in droves after San Antonio opened its doors on October 1st 1836 most families chose either the tiny unincorporated community located east of present day Interstate 10 near Beltline Road or nearby Plano where water rights then allowed farmers access to several thousand acre feet (of land) of freshwater stream running through central Texas down into Mexico providing irrigation opportunities for some twenty miles upstream including Spring Branch Creek which flows into Trinity River below Austin} By 1840 most residents here lived close together inside small two story wooden homes with shared gardens or outbuildings known locally as “Groups” today known historically variously as Brushy Hill Colony (1840), Pecos Colony (1841), Cedar Creek Settlement (1846), Nueces Prairie Colony(1849), Bear Gulch Valley Settlement(1851) – each group being administered by an individual settler acting primarily upon behalf of his/her clan or family.} In 1861 James Bowie organized what is considered today Little Elm Academy becoming one ofTexas’ first high schools} After Confederate forces burned Dallas on April 6th 1865 Union General Oliver Howard entered Little Elm along with 5000 men securing supplies needed by General Johnston marching southward through Tarrant County preparatory for attacking Austin northward} When hostilities ended General Howard turned westward backtracking past Lone Star State capital Georgetown crossing Hempstead Lake eventually reaching present day Fort Worth appearanceing daily before Ulysses S Grant while patrolling Central Texas between Sherman’s March through West Texarkana towards Abilene then Grants Crossroads finally reaching Tyler where he disembarked his unit late Friday night after weeks march stopping at White Sands mountain range east side Hood River valley dropping 5100 Infantrymen off2morrownoon under orders MacArthur will cross Red River 350 miles north tomorrow morning march thence southeast parallel Red River cutting off supply route Johnston

The first true “smart” binoculars were developed in 1879 by John Herschel who designed a pair of 10x50mm telescope binoculars that could be held together so they would not fall apart when you moved them around. He also improved upon earlier designs by adding an adjustable focus turret and metal hinges that made them more durable. In 1906, he received US Patent #1,812,921 for his design which became known as the Herschel Telescope Binoculor
The modern binoculars were invented in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte. The first pair of binoculars were actually made of glass and metal, but they quickly became popular because they could be used close up to see detail much better than a regular lens.
The town of Little Elm, Texas was founded in 1836 by James Fenton and his wife, Eliza. The Fentons were the first English settlers in what is now Texas. They named their new community after a small tree that growed near their farmhouse. Over time, other families moved to Little Elm from surrounding villages and towns. In 1849, Little Elm was renamed Fort Worth because of the presence of military forces in the area. In 1901, the Fort Worth National Military Park was established in Little Elm with the aim of preserving its history and landscape. Today,Little Elm is a thriving community with a rich cultural heritage dating back to its early days as a settlement. The park offers visitors unique experiences including hiking trails, picnic areas and interpretive exhibits about local history and culture.
Little Elm was founded in 1836 by John H. Little, Sr. as a small community of about 30 people. The town grew rapidly and by 1841 had reached 400 residents. By 1865, Little Elm had become the third-largest city in Texas with a population of 1,000. In the 1860s, Little Elm became a hub for cotton farming and manufacturing because of its natural resources: rich soil, water supplies, and mountains towered on one side of the city while the river Onyx flowed on the other. The industry declined during the Great Depression but has since regained some foothold thanks to advances in transportation and digital technology.
