The town’s success story began when it became the home of The First National Bank of Little Elm in 1907. The bank helped to create an economy that made Little Elm one of the most prosperous cities in southeastern Texas during the early 20th century. Over time, however, Little Elm lost its importance as a commercial center due to its distance from major city attractions and its lack of public transportation. Despite their negative experiences during this time, many residentships remain in use today withinLittle Elm’s community hallowed halls such as the McLennan Street Baptist Church (whose bell is still rung), Pemberton Park (where baseball games are played every Sunday morning), and Main Street United Methodist Church (which has been used for dances since 1915).

In 1836, Little Elm was founded in the present-day Texas state of Texas by people from Illinois. The town had a small population and did not have much to do, so it decided to build a courthouse. The first courthouse was built in 1840 and was replaced in 1851. In 1857, Little Elm began issuing its own stamps which helped it become an important city in the Lone Star State. By 1907, Little Elm had a population of over 10,000 and became the fourth largest city in Texas after Austin, Dallas, and Houston. After World War II ended and the economy declined, Little Elm experienced rapid growth as businesses moved into the area. Today,Little Elm is one of the most prosperous cities in Texas with a diverse economy that includes restaurants, retail stores, health care services, education institutions, and manufacturing companies.
On November 15, 1836, the Republic of Texas was established by a group of Texans who had sought refuge in the Lone Star State after being driven out of Mexico. The new state included parts of what are now southeastern Texas and parts of central and northern Mexico. The first settlers in Little Elm were families from Louisiana. They arrived in 1837 and began to build homes on the present-day site of Little Elm. By 1840, there were about 10 settlements in Little Elm.
