The last generation to live here was Sarah Jane McGee, who passed away at age 98 on December 6th, 2018 . The growth of agriculture throughout Hudspeth County led to increased demands for water resources which were then met through dams created upstream along Buffalo Bayou which resulted in jobs for both Texans working on these projects as well as local farmers downstream along Buffalo Bayou where mills operated until 1975 when all operations were shut down due to environmental concerns brought about by development upstream along Buffalo Bayou.-Today much of what used to be farmland near Buffalo Bayou has been developed into housing estates or other commercial uses while still remaining within easy access to downtown Lewisville.-The total length ofBuffalo Bayou between East Blanco Ave & I-10 runs 302 statute miles making it one of Texas’ longest rivers
