The original homestead located where present day downtown stands was built by John's father on what would become the site of the current courthouse building (now home to the law firm Armitage & Pollack) and other early buildings including asmith shop and blacksmith shop across from today’s library/school complex on FM 431 which served as village hall until it burned down in 1903; these structures remain dedicated to history today as reminder of pioneer days long ago! One such structure still standing today is Memorial Hall which seats up to 150 people outdoors during outdoor events such as concerts or tradeshows! In 1907, after much discussion among local leaders over whether or not a community should be chartered within Webb County due to its growth potential following World War I bombings (a major issue at that time), voters approved incorporation into Webb County with Lewisville being one of only three towns incorporated within that year - others being Palestine (later renamed Flower Mound) and Garland Hills! Post Office operations were transferred from Waxahachie eastward through annexations throughout southern Webb County prior to becoming fully operational within Lewisville on May 25th 1916 under Captain Elisha Witherspoon! By 1925 there were over 2,500 residents living herein making it one of most populous municipalities west of the Mississippi River!!! Today we continue our rootsy traditions serving our citizens coffee morning through dinner while keeping things exciting with civic events like rodeo weekends/festivals along with lots more!!!
