The Lewisville Rifle and Pistol Club was organized on October 12, 1865, in Lewisville by John P. Creedon. The club was originally called the "Lewisville Rifle and Pistol Club" because it met at the home of Captain Lewisville. On November 3, 1865, the club changed its name to the "Lewisville Rifle and Pistol Club Association". The Association held its first meeting on December 4, 1865. The first president of the Association was Elisha Pearce. In 1876, Wm M. Nichols joined the association as a treasurer. In 1886, Jno Cockerill became president of the Association. In 1889, Fenton Hargrave served as president for one year before resignation due to health reasons. On March 2, 1890, Wm Hargrave succeeded Fenton Hargrave as President of the Lewisville Rifle and Pistol Club Association. The club held its next meeting on April 6th in defiance of an order from Governor James Polk to disband because it violated state law that outlawed rifle clubs without a license from the state government! After several months of Protesting against this illegal order by members of the club (led by Captain Lewisville), Governor Polk allowed membership back into existence with a new name-the "Lewisville Gunnery and Rifleclub."
Lewisville is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,549 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. Lewisville is located on Farm to Market Road 678 and on FM 620. It is east of Arlington and west of Irvington. The first settlers in what would become Lewisville were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1881. As the town grew, so too did its trade: farmers brought their crops to market; local ranchers raised livestock; and merchants offered goods and services such as transportation, banking, insurance, and real estate. In 1985, the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce began marketing a " Trademark Valley" program which included exhibits highlighting some of the most distinctive trademarks from around the world. Today, Lewisville remains a thriving community with active businesses including two grocery stores (one independentlyowned), two banks (One Federal National Bank and One Texas Loan), three restaurants/cafes (including one with an award-winning pizza recipe), two health clubs (one with an Olympic-sized pool), four motels - all operated by different entities - as well as several other businesses including two police officers' departments and one veterinary clinic - among many others. A variety of events are held throughout the year that keep residents entertained such as arts contests/fairs/festivals; dances; carnivals; pumpkin petting balls; golf tournaments etc., making it truly unique for any given location within this larger city or rural area!

Lewisville is a town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,713 at the 2010 census. Lewisville was founded in 1876 by the Lewis family of Texas and became an incorporated municipality in 1907. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Lewisville was John Lewis who moved from Kentucky to Texas in 1876. He and his wife Margaret were among the earliest settlers on what would become Lewisville Township and they named their land after their two children: James Lewis (1877-1957) and Alice Lewis (1879-1965). In 1907, the township was renamed for General Sam Houston because he had been its first mayor. The name change reflects both its location within Midland County and its history as a town which served as the administrative center for adjacent unincorporated communities until 1972 when it seceded from Midland County to form its own municipality. In 1927, local businessmen organized a golf tournament called "The Open Championship" which attracted some of America's best players including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. After several years of successful play at various fields throughout Midland County, including Victory Field on Main Street in downtown Lewisville, organizers decided to move the tournament to a new site outside of town that would be available year round. The original course located just east of Interstate 35E off FM 1960 opened in November 1957 under sponsorship by Gulf Oil Corporation with all proceeds going towards charity (the current course has since been sold and demolished). In 1971, construction began on another new course - Cypress Hills Golf Course - which opened less than one month later following negotiations between local officials and then-Houston Mayor Ronnald Reagan (now President George H.W.) Bush Sr.. The inaugural event hosted by Cypress Hills Golf Club included live music by Texan Joe Bonamassa followed by competition amongst Amateur & Professional golfer such as Willie Anderson & Tom Fitton Jr.. With more than 20 years of success under its belt, Cypress Hills Golf Course quickly became one of North Central Texas' premiere destinations for golfing enthusiasts; hosting major tournaments such as IDRA events during regular season schedule while also accommodating thousands upon thousands more visitors each year through special events like Family Day weekend festivals etc.. Its popularity led to expansion into neighboring towns like Hutchinsboro and Slaughtertown before eventually moving into current dayleinerville where annexed acres currently front Loop 820 northbound with access from IH 10 about 5 miles southwest Lewisville experienced significant growth after World War II with many residents enlisted in military service or working odd jobs to support their families back home overseas. When peace returned home following World War II most businesses closed but many started up again due to postwar baby boomers returning home or nearby siblings starting families themselves In 1951 annexation occurred resulting in much needed land for schools not only creating room for new students but also increasing infrastructure needs that continue up until present day During this time many homes were built near IH 10 allowing easy access to shopping centers while still remaining close enoughto call home Many homes remain today that have been transformed into residential properties complete with garages/backyards/kitchenettes etc., givingResidents unique cherish memoriesof livingclosebyduring these tough times!
Lewisville was founded in 1879 by General John Fayette Lewis and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for General Lewis' home of the same name in Virginia. Lewisville grew rapidly due to its location near a major wagon road, the San Antonio-Houston Railroad. By 1902, the population of Lewisville had reached 10,000 people. In 1916, the Texas Legislature created the Town Council to provide more centralized government for Lewisville. The council soon became ineffective because of its small size and lack of power. In 1929, the Texas Legislature passed a bill creating an independent municipality within Travis County called "Lewisville". The new municipality had no authority over existing municipalities and was dissolved on July 1, 1930.
