The Leon Valley area has been settled since 1849 when John Wesley Powell discovered the valley while exploring the Arkansas River region. The early settlers were cowboy farmers who grew crops and raised livestock. They also built small towns around their outposts until railroads arrived in the late 1800s and transportation became more important. The first school in Leon Valley was opened in 1892 by Masonic Lodge #4 with nine students. By 1900 there were two schools and a church in the valley. In 1912 a post office was established at Leon Valley with Wm Sargent as its first mail carrier. There were also several businesses such as a hardware store, general store, blacksmith shop and livery stable along with many individual homes until World War II when most of these buildings were destroyed or converted into military bases or other civilian uses. The Second World War had a significant impact on the valley as thousands of soldiers arrived to fight in Europe. Many of these men brought their families with them and many of the original residents left for good after the war ended. In 1945 there were only six residents living inLeon Valley; all but one had died within five years of arriving here from various causes including illness, violence or accidents caused by soldiers or others living nearby during that time period.. A new community development project called “Homes for All” began in 1978 which provided affordable housing for low-income individuals and families through donations from local property owners and businessmen who saw an opportunity to improve land use patterns east of McKinney Boulevard between Loop 610 and I-635 South (now known as Willow Road). This program continued until 1992 when it was superseded by Ellis County’s Housing Authority Program which provides family-friendly public housing developments around Dallas/Fort Worth areas.). In recent decades there have been several efforts to revive the business climate found throughout much of western Texas; one example being my home state neighboring Oklahoma City's 9th Street Business District initiative which formed part of Mayor Mike Rawlings' effort to revitalize downtown OKC following Hurricane Harvey's destructive effects). However it seems that Leon Valley may be becoming an exception due mainly because oil production has declined significantly over recent years – leading some developers expressing interest in developing energy-sensitive properties elsewhere outside the valley specifically near Refinery Park — nearly opposite where Powell discovered his valuable oil field more than 150 years ago! With gas prices continuing to rise BNSF Railway Corp.'s decision last year not renewed for expansion into nearby Hubbard Counties may finally leadto some long overdue investment inside our beautiful Cowboy State!

In 1892, a school house and post office were built in what is now Leon Valley. A railroad depot was built in 1903, and an agricultural community developed around it. The town achieved notoriety when Jack Ruby assassinated President John F Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963; several shots were fired from within the town limits into nearby Dallas before Ruby shot JFK dead. The local economy declined during the late 1990s asonsequently, but has grown since 2000 as a result of development of new businesses and population growth in neighboring Amarillo. Many residents are still descendants of pioneer families that have been living in the area for many years
Leon Valley was located in San Antonio County, Texas. It was named for General Leonidas Polk, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The town had a population of around 150 people when it was founded in 1881. In 1907, the town merged with neighboring Valverde to form a new municipality.
