Leon Valley is a small town in Kendall County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,755 at the 2000 census. It is the only incorporated community in Kendall County. The Leon Valley School District serves Residents of the town and the surrounding rural areas. The area that includes Leon Valley was originally part of Hudspeth County. On May 3, 1836, it became part of Kendall County when it was organized from parts of Rusk and Bell counties. In 1881, a post office called Leon Valley was established; it remained in operation until 1934. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Leon Valley has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on account of its location near Austin proper.

Leon Valley is a town in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Leon Valley post office has been in operation since 1873. The first settlers to the area were two brothers, John and Johnnie Kapp, who located what is now Leon Valley on a farmstead they bought from Jeremiah Hinton in 1836. George A. White organized a cattle drive from Wichita Falls through Bastrop County on October 10, 1838 and arrived at the present site of Leon Valley on November 16th. He named it after James Fenton Lewisohn (1798-1864), one of his guests on his trip westward from Philadelphia via Galveston Bayou to New Orleans. In 1840 Spanish explorer Agustín de Isares discovered an abandoned mission near present-day Leon Valley and built Fort San Antonio de Vallecas there as part of his exploration of East Texas. After Mexican General Santa Anna's victory over French forces at Palo Alto in 1847 Mexico ceded East Texas to the United States following the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo andpresumed ownership by Spain which never materialized because France refused to recognize American independence despite Ulysses S Grant's promise not to do so. In 1850 federal land commissioner Jethro Bogan boundary surveyed all present day Bastrop County including what is now Leon Valley and established 36 square miles as Rancho Brazos y Tejas for white citizens only with no right of Indian occupancy or sale nor use for military purposes without written consent from Mexican government or its agents administering the region including Fort San Antonio de Vallecas where Isares had made his discovery some years earlier when he explored eastward along South Padre Island before sailing northwest across Gulf Coastal plain towards Corpus Christi Bayou for Mexico City intent on discovering new sources of water beyond Acapulco Bay although he may have also reached Louisiana Lakes then known as Red River about 20 miles northeast of modern Houston . In 1853 Congressman William Hudgins moved legislation creating McLennan County within Texas based largely upon surveys completed during Hudgins' term preceding that year's general election making Lone Star State with more than 1 million residents nearly twice as large as California with 4 national border crossings making it one of America's leading agricultural producers while ranching became an important industry exporting hides, woolen clothing, beef and other livestock products to other states primarily Yankee farmers migrating westward during this period especially those associated with railroad development such as Union Pacific Railroad founder Andrew Carnegie whose family founded Carnegie Steel Works in Homestead Township just north west ofpresent day LeonValley) while merchants such as Fenton Lewisohn & Brothers Merchants Druggists Store ran successful businesses serving both whites & Mexicans until violence broke out between Anglo supremacists/Anglo Texans &Mexican Border Rangers culminating in three days long battle fought around town Limits line separating Anglo Americans From Mexicans resulting in 30 dead & many more injured+ Freight trainloads arriving daily bringing goods back home loaded onto wagons then unloading at Depot Street frontage ensuring continued commerce despite numerous attempted attacks prior + Today still oneof Americas most vibrant small towns hosting annual arts festival late summer
In 1886, the Leon Valley Railroad was chartered to build a railway from San Angelo to Dallas. The line was completed in 1892 and became known as the Texas Rangers Railway. In 1916, the company merged with the Dallas-Fort Worth Railway.
