The target is a three-foot high, wooden post with a cloth or paper representation of an animal upon it. The object of the game is to hit the target with a ball. This large target was donated by Mrs. Lillie Hogg and built on top of her home located northeast corner of Main Street and Elm Avenue. The tower has been used as a shooting ground for recreational purposes since its erection. It consists of nine paying customers who can purchase tickets to shoot at the target from 7:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M., Monday through Friday except holidays. On Saturday mornings and during special events such as Fourth Of July fireworks displays or carnival rides, members are allowed to purchase tickets starting at 5:00 A.M.. There are also private sessions that can be arranged for groups up to 30 people. Another well-known Leander Gun Target is "The Lady Liberty." This beautiful steel frame iron target measures 14 feet tall by 24 feet wide and cost $2,000 when first erected in 1922 by Fenton Meeks Jr./Calhoun County Sheriff's Department (now Texas Ranger Police). Its function was to promote law enforcement education among citizens by pointing out dangerous criminals hiding in concealment behindLiberty's colossal bust! Leander is a small town located in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio–Barton City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Leander was founded in 1879 by John A. Leander and his family. The first post office in Leander was established in 1881. In 1893, the name of the town was changed to honor General Winfield Scott Hancock, who had served as governor of Texas from 1892-1895 and Ulysses S. Grant's Vice President from 1865-1869. The original shopping center opened in 1984 on Loop 410 near Interstate 10 and State Highway 281/US 90A (now US 281). At that time it included a dozen stores including Sears, JCPenney, Kmart and PCWorld as well as an express checkout line for major grocery stores like Kroger and Safeway. A second shopping mall called Park Place opened adjacent to I-10 east of Loop 410 in 1997 which became known as "The Mall". That mall included a variety of anchors such as Victoria's Secret, Macy's and Sears both inside and outside the mall with anchor tenants Kohl's Army & Navy also opening a store inside the mall which anchored that wing of the mall. Finally Park Place closed down in 2006 after many failed attempts by developers to bring new life to it following several lease agreements expiration or other issues with local politicians not supporting development within limits set by planners.. In late 2007 developer Southbridge Partners LLC announced plans for what would become one of LEANDER'S most iconic properties; an 8 million square foot mixed use complex consisting of more than 60 buildings spread over 6 blocks bounded by Broadway Street on the north side, Elm Street on the south side (the former site of Rheem Stadium), Missouri Avenue on each side (formerly home to Sweeny Chevrolet), I-10 east bound past SHOPkins Supermarket across from Walmart Supercenter before terminating at Live Oak Drive just west of Interstate 10 where access will be provided via exit 351 onto IH 10W/SHOPkins Superstore property adjoining Live Oak Drive - LEANDER'S FIRST MALL! This project would include reconfiguration or demolition of much older land surrounding Plaza Shopping Center into a high-end retail park complete with restaurants including Topaz Grill & Grille featuring outdoor seating overlooking IH 10E; two hotels: Hyatt Regency Dallas NorthPark & Hilton Garden Inn Arlington ; more than 100 businesses; underground parking garage capable of accommodating up to 1,500 cars; public transportation options including light rail service available through downtown San Antonio stations closest Union Station) - all while preserving much historic architecture dating back to early 20th century when plaza Shopping Center was built originally!

Leander is a town in and the county seat of Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1851 by William Fenton and his wife Anna May Fenton. The original name of the town was "Fentonville". In 1872 it lost its status as a county seat to Corsicana and has been since then an unincorporated community. The first post office in Leander was established on November 15, 1851, by Wm. Fenton with the name "Fentonville." The present building on Elm Street served as the post office until it closed on October 1, 1908. In 1870, Leander annexed part of Corsicana (now Fort Worth). On December 12 that year, residents of Leander voted to become an independent city under the name "Leander", which they did on January 2, 1871. The new city had a population of just over 100 people and started trading goods with Corsicana. In 1907-1908 a large brick courthouse was built in honor of Judge James Hogg who had died months earlier while serving as circuit judge for Hudspeth County. That building still stands today across from First Baptist Church off Main Street in Leander proper.. On July 10th 1927 Hurricane Floyd made landfall just south of Leander town limits making damage extensive but no loss reported within or outside leander bounds
