This legislation led to an increase in gun ownership in Leander. starting in 1935-1936 there was an increased incidence of crime due to fear of reprisals from criminals if they were caught with weapons illegally. In 1947-1948Leander had its first major fire when three warehouses full of ammunition exploded on Aug 1st during World War II
Leander is a town in west Texas, United States. The population was 4,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Willacy County. The first European to visit Leander was José de Urrea on October 7, 1795 and he named it San Francisco de los Tejas because of its resemblance to the Mexican city of Santa Fe. On July 8, 1836, J. M. Barbour recorded that the town had a population of 100 people and consisted of a single store which he said "served as the only means of supplying their wants." In 1837-1838 two more stores were opened in Leander by John Sibley and Thomas Ladd. A post office called Leander was established in 1839 with Wm Hogg as postmaster; it remained in operation until 1865. By 1860 there were twelve residences and one store in Leander with a total population of 264 people; however, by 1870 this number had decreased to seventy-two persons when three new residences were built (the last being erected in 1901). In 1861 Goliad College became an independent institution under the name Texas Wesleyan University after merging with Emory & Henry College (now Atlanta Methodist University). In 1907–1908 Fenton High School became available for students from rural areas outside Willacy County so that they could attend school within easy reach while still having access to agricultural opportunities unique to Willacy County residents or those living near Interstate 10 on the eastern edge of TX without any agriculture options other than raising livestock or growing crops/pests such as mosquitoes etc.. So much for closed schools!! In 1941 Fenton HS offered evening classes starting at 5pm so high schoolers could continue attending during off hours if needed since there wasn't an elementary or middle school open late then too! Leander's economy has shifted many times throughout its history including: agriculture (raising livestock and planting crops), manufacturing (clothiers making items such as hats, clothing, flags etc.), retail trade (a few general stores/cafés), infrastructure development (roads, bridges) and finally service providers such as medical care, libraries/departments/schools/government agencies etc., all within commuting distance for locals. Today Leander's economy revolves around healthcare services primarily but also includes professional services such as law enforcement and healthcare administration; research organizations like UT Austin’s Institute on Aging provide scientific expertise related to aging process; restaurants serving modernTexans cuisine offer wine tastings throughout the day followed by dinner nightly; numerous small business owners provide goods and services not easily found elsewhere but close enough for passengers travelling through I-10 who stop at various businesses along I-10 near Seawall Blvd.; farmers markets are now popular among locals providing fresh produce 24 hrs A DAY; internet cafes are now common that offer fast WiFi with games and moviesaws overlooking downtown skyline
The first modern BB guns were created in the early 1870s by a team of engineers led by George Stephenson. In 1874, the British military tested a new BB gun called the "Ammunition Boat" that fired live rounds from a water-filled barrel. The weapon was successful and soon became known as the "BB Gun." Over the next several decades, more and more people started to adopt and use BB guns for target shooting. In 1916, Britain's Royal Ordnance Corps developed an improved BB gun called the Mark I. This weapon featured an adjustable stock and magazine that allowed it to be fired using multiple rounds at once. In 1937, Japan began World War II with its attack on Pearl Harbor. As part of their strategy, Japan decided to launch an air assault against U.S forces in Hawaii. To do this, they employed a new type of BB gun called the "Ki- 43" which was able to fire projectiles up to 100 meters (330 feet). The KI- 43 was very successful and helped contribute to Japan's victory over America in World War II.

Leander is a small town in Bexar County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,816 at the 2010 census. It was founded by two Scottish missionaries in 1836 and named for Leander Cruz, one of the first Mexican immigrants to the United States. In 1876, Leander was renamed after President James K. Polk because of its location on the Missouri-Kansas-Arizona Railroad. The town developed around a Methodist Episcopal church which served as the center of community life until it burned down in 1857. The present day school building was built in 1902 and is still used today as a local courthouse. A post office has been located here since 1907. The first store opened in 1840 and the first road (now US 281) wasn't completed until 1851 due to all of the difficult terrain involved. By 1870, there were six businesses in Leander with three remaining as late as 1880: two stores, a sawmill, and two blacksmiths/horses traders In 1865 construction began on what would become State Highway 183 which later became I-10
Leander was founded in 1836 by Captain James Fenton. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1840, the town was renamed Leander City and it continued to grow until 1865 when it merged with the neighboring town of Whitney to form the present-day city of Whitney.
