In 1907, LeagueCity became an official city after being ratified by voters in an election held on November 3rd followed by incorporation on January 1st that year. As part as one of his goals for running for office during his first term as Mayor Mike McClendon said "I am committed to making sure that our citizens have access to quality education and job opportunities." Today, many people who live in or work in downtown league city enjoy easy access to transportation options such as I-10 westbound or I-25 eastbound (and north). Additionally, there are several shopping malls located within walking distance including Saks Fifth Avenue/Marshall Field Mall - home field also home to the American Airlines Arena - Enterprise Center - home field also home to AT&T Park/Docklands ballpark - Alliant Energy Center - light industrial park located near Interstate 10 and Loop 410
