Lancaster, Texas is home to a number of self-defense weapons manufacturers and retailers. Lancaster's history with firearms starts with the purchase of rifles by the town's first group of settlers in 1836. The following year, the state passed an act that allowed licenses for handguns, which led to the founding of several gun stores in town. In 1861, Lancaster became an independent county, and as such began to import pistols from Illinois. In 1923, LancasterWeapons Manufacturers Inc., was founded by Charles Sadowski. At this time, Lancaster was one of the most industrialized locations within Texas for manufacturing firearms. Sadowski pioneered many of today's self-defense firearm designs - including the shotgun mentioned earlier. He also developed a line of ammunition called "Sadowski Ammunition." In 1969, Lancaster Weapons Distributors Incorporated was formed to distribute Sadowski Firearms products statewide. This company continued to operate until it merged into American Outdoor Brands in 1995. Since then, American Outdoor has been responsible for developing and selling a wide variety of self-defense shotguns and pistols across America - both through its own stores and through partnerships with other leading distributors.

Lancaster, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex of Texas. The population was 11,821 at the 2000 census. Lancaster has been inhabited by Anglo and Mexican Americans since 1849 when it was founded as a trading post by Englishman John Bowie and his brother, David Bowie. The town grew rapidly after the discovery of oil in nearby Houston in 1901 and became one of the most important oil towns in Texas. The economy of Lancaster was based on its production of light crude oils until 1971 when production shifted to gasoline products. Today, Lancaster is an agricultural community with a substantial Hispanic population that engages in ranching and farming activities. The first settlers to Lancaster were those who arrived from California in 1849. James Fenton purchased land near the present day intersection of US 290 and FM 727 in 1850 for $1,000 dollars cash. In 1861, Fenton sold his land to Josefina Gomez for $5,000 dollars which added another mile (800 meters) to FM 727. On July 12th 1865, Garcia married Joséfa Ortiz de la Hoz y Martinez at Rancho San Fernando de los Angeles east of Lancaster about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of San Antonio de Bexar County seat Austin. From this marriage two children were born: Francisco or Gabriel Ortiz De La Hoya (1866-1930), who lived near San Antonio; and Margarita Ortiz Higueruela (1868-1946), who also resided near Austin but eventually migrated to Mexico City where she married another Mexican American named Enrique Higueruela Zamora Pacheco before dying there aged 80 years old in 2007). In 1869, George Waddell settled on lands north of routes 8 & 10 south of present day Loop 610 TX between current day Kessler Road & Mulberry Street belonging to him & wife Anna Lubbock Waddell ranches containing 1/4 acre each…..Anna died young without issue July 6 1889 leaving George sole heir….George surveys lots 4 & 5 NW side SW corner LAKE Fork then relocation lot tuesday night thence east 2 1/2 rods 3 quarters E ½ way across LAKE Fork he builds cabin on bluff over water…..First known occupant is James Pemberton August 28 1870…………….James Pemberton homesteaded lot #2 SE side SW corner CROSSroad from Anna’s place……..This property later became known as Giddings Prairie In 1871 A&P Railroad built a line through town connecting it with Galveston via Rocksprings early that year……………the railroad depot was constructed on Main Street just east of today's school site……………………………the first store openedAug 16th 1870 inside what is now Texarkana High School…………………………..present day Depot closedOct 15th1970
Lancaster was founded in 1836 when the Waco Hutchison family bought a farm on the banks of the Llano River. The town grew rapidly, and by 1840 it had 10 residents. By 1845, Lancaster had 120 people and had built a courthouse and jail. In 1847, Lancaster voters passed a resolution endorsing annexation by Dallas County, Texas. The first settlers in Lancaster were three brothers named James, John, and Solomon Hutchison.
