In 1902, it became one of thirty towns in Tarrant County when it was created from portions of Medina, Richardson and Weldon counties. Lancaster's growth slowed after World War II but resumed during the 1990s with the arrival of new residents and businesses. The economic recession has had a significant impact on Lancaster; however, business owners are working to redevelopment projects that will improve local infrastructure including new restaurants and shops. The history of Lancaster can be traced back to 1879 when several settlers arrived on buffalo bayou in what is now Lancaster County . Initially they built log cabins for themselves but soon started purchasing land from the Cherokee Nation . By 1901, there were over 100 people living in Lancaster; many were farmers who raised cattle or worked as mechanics for local railroads. In 1902, Lancaster became one of thirty towns within Tarrant County when it was created from portions of Medina, Richardson and Weldon counties . In 1907–08, these same three counties merged to form Arlington County so that all areas east of I-35 would become part of Arlington . At this time most people living in Lancaster left for Arlington because there were no jobs available within Dallas or Fort Worth – both cities were booming during this time period. However some residents remain today including many who work at nearby NASA’s Johnson Space Center During World War II , Lancaster served as an airbase where Army planes flew missions over Japan In 1948 , MacArthur appointed Drury Wilson mayor after he won election against incumbent John Garvin Wilson led city government until his death years later During his tenure he completed much needed repairs to sidewalks along Main Street which had been destroyed by floods caused by Hurricane Ike After Wilson's death city officials decided not to seek re-election based on low voter turnout which discouraged public investment which led to blighting progress made since Wilson's term

In 1925, Lancaster became part of McKinney County when it was formed from parts of Dallas County. The first post office in Lancastrian opened on December 12th, 1925; it continues to serve today as its namesake post office. Between 1930 and 1940, there were three very large oil fields located near present-day Lancaster; these fields have not been developed or reported as inactive since then! In 1941, during World War II, many people from nearby Irving left their homes for military service because of the war effort; this migration led to increased business opportunities for locals within six months after hostilities ended!
