Lancaster, Texas is a town of about 30,000 people located in the eastern portion of the state of Texas. The community was founded in 1892 by George A. Smith and John H. Lancaster as a rural post office called Lancaster. The name was changed to Lancaster in 1907 because it was determined that the original appellation could not be considered an allusion to any one place or person but instead represented the many counties within what is now Lancaster County. By 1920 there were over 100 firearms dealers in the community and around that time interest began to grow in airguns as a sport which could be enjoyed by both adults and children. In 1923 Airgun Association of America (AAA) was formed with Dr. James Fenton as its first president. The organization provided guidance for airgun enthusiasts through its magazine, newsletter, meetings and exhibitions. In 1928, when oil production stopped due to tariffs placed by President Calvin Coolidge against American products imported from Mexico, oil refineries closed throughout America; however, Lancaster continued to thrive because it had become an essential part of Texaco's global network supplying gasoline worldwide with its own fuel cell engine which eliminated air pollution problems like those caused by streetlights or other emissions sources
