In the early 1800s, Lakeway was a land grant to John H. Polk. The town of Lakeway was founded in 1853 by two brothers, Moses and Elisha Polk. In 1874, the town was renamed Lakeway after James Fenton Wilson, an American politician who served as the 36th Governor of Texas from 1875 to 1880.
Lakeway is a town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Lakeway post office was established in 1881 and discontinued operation in 1971. The town site was Donation land given by Captain James Hogg to the Republic of Texas in 1836 as part of the Treaty of Aransas Pass. In 1849, General Sam Houston donated 320 acres (128 hectares) southeast of present-day Lakeway to form Huntsville Township. This donation became effective on December 1, 1850, when Huntsville Township was organized into San Antonio County. The first post office opened in 1881 with Waco as its name because Waco Rapids lay just east of where Lakeway now stands. By 1886, the name had been changed to Lakeway after George Washington Carver donated an acre (0.40 hectare) for a mail service between Waco and Austin. In 1915, a new sawmill was built northeast of present-day Lakeway by John Ladd and his son Jack Ladd onl ely from Wichita Falls northward along Buffalo Creek until it joined the Trinity River near Jimmie Dale Gilmore's home on November 9 that year; this sawmill remains operational today as Cedar Point Sawmills LP (). It wasn't until 1924 that a large cotton gin arrived from New Orleans and began operations northwest of town; this gin continues to operate today as Gulf Coast Cotton Gin & Storage Co., Incorporated (). also founded in 1924 were Lakeside Hospitality Company () which ran hotels including The Sands Hotel (), then known as "Lakeside" before becoming known as Hilton Garden Inn ()) then renamed Hyatt Regency Resort ()); finally merged into Marriott International Lodging Corporation (); all these entities continue operations unto this day under their current names.Marriott International Lodging Corporation. At some point c1882 or earlier there must have been another feeder creek (or ranches?) directly across Buffalo Creek from what is now present day West Side Drive NE - it would make more sense if there were one main creek flowing through both towns - but no evidence has ever been found so it's presumed that this too vanished duringdevelopment.

There have been many different versions of Scope Mounts over the years, with varying degrees of ingenuity and difficulty in attaching and removing scopes. The first Scope Mount was designed by Rifleman magazine editor Al Bell in 1949. The mount consisted of two metal plates that were rotated around an armature to allow the user to attach and remove scopes with ease. Whilescope mounts were initially designed for rifles, they increasingly became popular for shotguns as well. Many early Scope Mounts were made from heavy-duty plastic, but eventually began to be made from more durable materials such as aluminum or brass. Scope mounts can be attached either horizontally or vertically; often, vertical mounts are found on rifles while horizontalmounts are more common on shotguns. While most Scope Mounts come with standard hardware (such as screws and nuts), some manufacturers offer optional mounting solutions that include tripods, clamps, and other accessories. The first Expandable Mounts were developed in the early 1990's. They were a means of attaching additional equipment to an existing rifle, typically a scope. A variety of accessories could be attached to these mounts by using expandable fasteners, such as screws and bolts. These mounts grew in popularity over the years and are still used today by many shooters.
Lakeway is a town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. The town was named after General Sam Houston and his wife, Katy. The first post office in Lakeway opened in 1887. It was located on the east side of the then-new Trinity River. A railroad depot served as the town's first store and post office until 1907. Houston businessman James Fenton organized a group of entrepreneurial farmers to purchase land in what is now south Lakeway from Jules DeBenedict Flood in 1865 for just $1 per acre (0.50 ha). In 1870, Fenton built an arsenal and munitions plant near present-day FM 936 (now Loop 610) and donated it to the county for use as a military base during Reconstruction Era America's heyday following the Civil War. The site became known as Camp Houston after General Sam Houston's Battle of San Jacinto which ended Texan independence from Mexico In 1903, local businessmen erected a schoolhouse on land donated by Mrs. Hilda Ladd at what is now northwest corner of FM 362 and Loop 610; within three years that structure had become home to Lakeway High School which began operations its doors in 1905 In 1916, when Gulf Coast Railroad merged with Texas Central Railway to form the Dallas-Fort Worth Railroad, Alvarado established Hughes Construction Company Ltd., one of DFW's largest construction firms whose slogan read "building things" . On November 3rd 1922 Alvarado was elected Mayoralty Pro Tem alongside future U.S congressman George Norris . With Norris' help Alvarado helped guide Homestead through zoning changes which led to its incorporation into an incorporated municipality on December 12th 1929 under name 'Lakeway'. From 1937 until 1941 he represented District 8b (Dallas), eventually becoming U S Representative from that district beginning January 3rd 1959 thru January 3rd 1963 By far most famous citizen or figure associated with Lakeway during this time would be Clyde Tombaugh who lived there from 1951 until his death in 1998 while serving as associate editor of National Geographic magazine

In 1907, the city of Lakeway was incorporated, and growth continued until World War II when the population decreased as a result of the war effort. The community resumed its growth after the war but slowed during the 1970s due to a number of economic factors such as oil exploration and production nearby. In recent years, however, there has been an increase in development around Lakeway as a result of new immigrants and businesses moving into the area.
