Lakeway is a small town located in the heart of Texas. It was founded by pioneers in 1879 and has since been home to a variety of businesses, including five log churches, two banks, two schools, and several homes. The town's history can be traced back to when it was incorporated as a village in 1881. At that time, it consisted of just a few families and consisted of only about fifteen acres of land. The first knife made in Lakeway was an axe. A man named John Cope used the axe to chop down trees near his house. He soon realized that he needed something better for himself and started making knives from scratch. In 1886, he started manufacturing his own knives at his home on the edge of town. Over the years, John Cope became one of Lakeway's most famous residents and is considered its founder. Over time, other knifemakers began to appear in Lakeway as well. One such company was Harry Jahnke's Knife Works Ltd., which produced high-quality knives until 1951. In addition to creating sturdy knives that were popular with hunters and fishermen, Harry Jahnke also manufactured precision tools such as saws and hammers used by farmers and businessmen alike. His company is still known today as one of the area's leading manufacturers of outdoor gear products

Lakeway is a city in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County. The name “Lakeway” originated from a log cabin that was built on the banks of the White River by pioneer George Hearn and his family in 1847. In 1854, Samuel Houston donated land to found what would become Lakeway as part of his gift to the county. A post office called Lakeway was established in 1856, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The city of Lakeway was founded on November 1, 1907 by Elisha Sutter and James Fenton as a merger of two towns - renamed Pleasant Prairie after their respective mayors - which had been separate since Creek settlement began in 1836 near present-day Waco. The new municipality became an important center for cotton production during World War II because its location made it easily accessible to military supplies coming through Fort Worth and Stockton. After the war ended, many businesses refused to close due to high prices for goods imported from abroad; this led to economic stagnation until the recession hit Lakeway hard in 2001-2002. In 2002, Mayor Vernon Hagood announced plans to demolish all but one building within downtown lakeway following years of research that demonstrated that most buildings were not necessary for municipal functions and could be replaced with more efficient technologies without compromising public safety or quality of life. On July 2nd 2003 demolition operations began with only three buildings remaining standing: City Hall (now used as a performance hall), Chamber Of Commerce Building (now used as offices), and Park & Ride Garage/Train Station which are both now used as apartments or home properties outside of town limits were once located just north side Main Street between Shepard Parkway & IH 35W). All other structures within downtownlakeway were either demolished prior to or during this time including numerous schools (grades K-12) which sat empty while those buildings were being rebuilt; all but one water tower also acquired new roofs allowing forumption of full use after previously being idle during construction season; currently all defunct school structures have been moved into nearby neighborhoods such as Garland where they will continue serve students through continuing construction seasons

In 1916, Lakeway incorporated as a city under the name of Arlington Heights. The city's fortunes declined during World War II due to high demand for military supplies in nearby Fort Worth; however, Arlington Heights regained its prominence following the war as a commercial center serving downtown Fort Worth and surrounding neighborhoods. During the 1960s and 1970s, Arlington Heights experienced rapid growth as a result of new development in downtown Fort Worth; however, this growth stopped abruptly in the early 2000s amid economic recessionary conditions.
