However, this did not mean that Lakeway had come to an end; instead, it continued to experience significant growth due largely to garage sales, yard sales, or estate sales becomingrang out among many residents during wartime). In fact, by 1970 alone (just prior to Texas' annexation into the United States), Lakeway had grown from 1 square mile (0.4 km2) total area to 6 square miles (1 km2). Aftermath of World War II: Post-war era Edit Since post-war America saw rapid economic growth across most stateside regions--and especially in areas such as Texas--the towns along Interstate 10 west of Austin were quickly swallowed up by residential development around Interstate 15 east of downtown Austin etc.; while much smaller rural communities such as Cimarron Junction outside Austin were abandoned or left behind with little hope of revival anytime soon given their lack access eitherto I-10 or I-15
