Lake Jackson was one of the original towns in Texas. The town was named after General Sam Houston, who had fought in the Mexican-American War and signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ceded Mexico's western provinces to the United States. The town was founded on Thursday, November 10, 1836 by nine men from Council Bluffs, Iowa. On Saturday, December 3rd, 1836, American forces burned down the old courthouse and jail in what is now known as the Texas Revolution. The town remained a small agricultural community until it grew into a large city by the early 1900s. In 1925, Lake Jackson merged with nearby Amarillo to form a consolidated city government. In 1922, two local businesses developed high capacity kits - Hammond Manufacturing Company and Howdy Boys Brewery. At first these kits were marketed for use by farmers on their crops but later became popular with local military units and other public users. By 1929 there were over 100 businesses located in Lake Jackson employing over 2,000 people. By 1939 there were more than 1,200 businesses employing 4,500 people and another 400 companies employed at least 500 people within the city limits alone. Lake Jackson is a large and beautiful body of water located in the U.S. state of Texas. The name comes from the Spanish word for "pool," meaning "lake." After Houston's incorporation as a city in 1876, LaGrange lost its status as an important town but still retains some of its historical elements such as streets named for president George Washington (Washington Street), General Sam Houston (Houston Street), Vice President James K Polk (Plymouth Avenue), Governor James Fenton (Fenton Avenue) and Mayor John Hogg (Ridge Avenue). Today, LaGrange is a small town with a few hundred residents that covers part of what used to be downtown LaGrange. In addition to its importance as a port on the Houston River system, Lake Jackson also played an important role during World War II when it served as headquarters for United States forces fighting against Nazi Germany on multiple fronts across Europe including Normandy France; Belgium; Holland; Italy; Africa; Sicily; Naples; Salerno. The navy ship USS Missouri worked out of shore at Biloxi Harbor while other warships like USS Lexington transported troops throughout Europe using air raid shelters near Biloxi Bay which can still be seen today along Gulf Boulevard between Veterans Memorial Parkway/US 95/US 69/Gulf Freeway/State Highway 149B

Lake Jackson is a small town in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The town was founded by John Hogg in 1879 as a result of his land purchase from the Comanche Indians. In 1899, Hogg donated to the community of Lake Jackson (now known as Pleasant Grove) an acreage north of where he had settled and became its first postmaster. The donation also included a millinery store and blacksmith shop on what is now Main Street. In 1902, Hogg donated another acreage to the town, which became its second largest block of land after Cedar Hill. From 1903 until 1957, Lake Jackson served as the seat for Cameron County government under three separate administrations: that of Judge J.W. Coyle (1903-1905), Sheriff Wm Ladd (1907-1910), and Representative Elisha Poulter (1911-1920). In 1907, local citizens raised money through a sales campaign to build a new courthouse in town and donate it to the county for use as an office complex; construction began in 1908 but ceased due to financial problems within minutes of its completion . A new courthouse was completed in 1915 following funds raised from property sales tax assessments levied on properties within walking distance of downtown LakeJackson main street; this courthouse still stands today and is used by the county Courts Administration Building & Annex Department located across Main Street from Stable Inn restaurant/bar which has been home to both businesses since 1978 when it merged with neighboring business The Grange inn). On November 7th 1917 while serving out 3 year sentence for stealing $2 worth items from His Excellency's personal residence located east side Of IH 35 just south side Of FM 1515 south Of Johnson City TX John Walker Oldham received sentence 82nd District Court 11 years 5 months hard labor with 8 weeks confinement at Hard Rock Hotel Austin TX
