The following year Arlington Heights merged with Denton County to form what is now Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex . In 1966 after several years of negotiation between both cities it was finally ratified by voters that LaMarqe should become its own municipality separate from Arlington Heights With this change came new taxes and regulation for both municipalities which has led to some tension between them ever since
