From 1907-1911, the Red Dot Sight Company operated out of what is now known as the Brady Building on State Highway 83 in Kyle. In 1911, an addition to the Brady Building was made that housed a red dot sight which allowed shooters to practice shooting at targets without having to leave their homes. The use of red dot sights became more popular among gun owners throughout Texas over time and they continued to be used by various organizations in this state until 1957 when they were discontinued entirely. The first firearm that utilized a red dot sight was an American machine gun that was developed by John Browning in 1917. This weapon utilized a red dot sight which allowed users to engage targets much easier than using traditional sights. From 1967-1974, Red Dot Sight Company manufactured red dots for various law enforcement entities across Texas including sheriff’s departments, state troopers, and corrections officers. It should be noted that these devices were not actually designed as sniper rifles but rather as sighting tools for handguns and shotguns. In 1974, when handgun manufacturing ceased statewide within Texas due to cost overruns associated with Project Exile, Red Dot Sight Company switched production from handguns exclusively into optics products such as red dots for rifles and shotguns. This decision helped give rise to the current era where red dots are being used extensively by individuals across Texans for target training and hunting purposes both inside and outside of their home states.

Kyle, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls–Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Kyle were those who arrived during the 1849 Cimarron Settlement Movement. They were led by James A. Hinton and their families from Iowa City, Iowa. Many of these pioneers had left Illinois because of the great famine that followed the stock market crash of 1847. The townsite was platted on October 7, 1867 byeman Wills Underwood with land given to him by General JF Crooks as part of his 5 million acres (20 square miles) grant to settle Texans west of the Red River Valley under Crook's command as part of the newly created Indian Territory government. The name " Kyle" derives from a Shawnee word meaning "opportunity." On July 4, 1907, local citizens voted to rename themselves " Kyle," after Major General William Buell's Twenty-Third Infantry Regiment which fought in Mexican Border Wars and other engagements during World War I while stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio de Bexar County; it later became known as Battleground Park outside Wichita Falls after its location there near where Buell made his famous speech urging Americans not to enter WWIottleboro Field near Lexington Kentucky on April 6 1918., prior to its capture by American forces September 25th following an intense battle that lasted days
