Kyle, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located in Midland County and has a population of approximately 9,000 people. Kyle is the only municipality in Midland County and it is the county seat for both Midland County and Travis County. The population of Kyle was 7,751 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up Kyle was first settled by Anglo- Scots settlers in 1847 as part of what became Wichita County, Kansas. After Texas annexation in 1845, many Texans who had been living east of San Antonio moved to Kyle to ranch and build homes. In 1872, when Austin began to grow rapidly, some residents decided to move back intoKyle to continue ranching while others founded businesses such as Ford & Haggerty Lumber Company and Western Union Telegraph Company (WUOT). In 1907, when Midland Countysouthwestward growth accelerated due to oil discoveries near Beaumont, Texans elected Mayor Wm J. Ferguson; he served until 1915 when he was replaced by Wm Sargent Dixon who served until 1922 when he was replaced by Rufus King Jr., who succeeded him on an uncontested election after King ran unsuccessfully for office twice before winning the seat from Democrat Harry Chandler in 1924. After World War II ended with victory for the United States over Japan in 1945 following a series of atomic bombings across Japan which destroyed most all industrial targets there including Hiroshima and Nagasaki), many Japanese immigrants came back to Kyle seeking asylum or work during wartime shortages at American factories which were closed down because of racial segregationism at that time throughout much of America despite claims made by President Franklin D Roosevelt during his war years that “American workers will take care of themselves”[1]. Kyle, Texas is a town in Llano County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio–New Braunfels–Bryan Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was settled by Texans in 1839 and named for General Sam Houston. The first school was built in 1843 and the first church was built in 1845. Kyle's post office opened on July 6, 1850. The annexation of New Braunfels by Austin gave Kyle a seat on the Austin City Council from 1865 to 1870; however, it lost that seat in 1870 to Tom Greenville (the only African American elected to city council). In 1901, oil was discovered at Kyle Field and production began immediately. In 1902-1903, gas drilling began on what would become known as "The Well". By 1915 oil had been extracted to such an extent that operators leased land adjacent to the old football stadium for storage tanks and other associated infrastructure; this led to the nickname "Oil Town" due to its high level of production during that time period. A new football stadium called Grossman Stadium replaced Old Kyle Field following Hurricane Rita in 2005-2006 which caused extensive damage including $3 million worth of damage done to it from flooding rains aftermaths as well as wind gusts up to 185 mph which destroyed roofs off buildings and ripped out power lines causing widespread destruction throughout downtown about 30 miles SW of Corpus Christi TX Kyle has always been one of economic engines within Llano County with some businesses touching every facet of our lives whether we are consumers or producers or service providers we all contribute something back into society through economy here we have retail stores open 24/7 service stations open 7 days a week restaurants open 12pm - 10pm Bars open 3am thru 2am hotel rooms all night long gaming places like Edwards Casino Resort they have games going all day till late they also have live music playing every night outside
