Fenton's hometown was located five miles west of Kyle on Red River County property that was donated to the town by Fenton's widow and son-in-law. Since its establishment as a municipality, Kyle has experienced many changes including becoming a bedroom community forDallas during the 1990s; experiencing rapid growth due to oil exploration and production; hosting several high school football championships; becoming home to Baylor University's medical campus; being host to numerous summer events such as Wimbledon tennis or rodeo; and eventually experiencing significant gentrification following annexation by Dallas back in 2014.

Kyle is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. Kyle was created in 1876 when a post office called "Kelvin" was established at the mouth of the Salt Fork River. In 1892, the town name was changed to "Kyle". The first settler in Kyle was John Fenton who arrived in 1876 and claimed land on which he built his cabin. He and his wife named their new home "Fenton's Ranch". Other early settlers included J.P. Goode who arrived in 1879 and started an sawmill; Wm Hennessee who settled around 1888; James Aiken who worked for a railroad company for some time before moving to Kyle in 1895; G C Welshman who came to help with farming from Arkansas on July 10, 1896; A L Richardson from Wichita Falls arriving on October 15, 1897; Hiram Walls from Tupelo, Mississippi who arrived December 9th 1898 ; Frank Kuykendall from Pecos City, New Mexico Territory arrive on January 8th 1899 The first schoolhouse in Kyle was built by Mrs Willis Bushnell circa 1889 but it burned down soon after she erected it In 1902, when Hudspeth County formed its official existence as a county within Texas under statehood laws, Kyle became one of its initial townships. That year also saw the founding of nearby Cedar Creek Township (later renamed Round Rock) within Hudspeth County - both Towns had been authorized by then-County Judge Swayne Launius as part of efforts to increase agriculture production within the newly organized county seat of Austin.. By 1907 there were three full-time schoolteachers operating out of two smaller schools located near where today's Main Street and US 290 intersect: Mrs Lopez's School (now known as Norvell Middle School), Mrs Welch's School (now known as Byrd Elementary School), and Mr Ratliff's Academy (later renamed Lamar High School). When Ewing College opened up shop downtown during World War I along US 90 just north of Main Street - classes were relocated back intoKyle for about a year until 1923 when they relocated again to what is now UTSA University Park across Loop 610 south
