Kyle, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,912 at the 2000 census. Kyle is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. It lies east of downtown Austin and north of Plano. The first settlers in Kyle were families who came from Illinois in 1847. They named their town after General James Klyde's army that fought against Mexico during the Mexican-American War. In 1860, John Fenton bought land in what is now Kyle and started to homestead it. He and his wife named their home "Fenton Place". In 1870, Wm. Hickey bought some land from Fenton and started to farm it. Hickey named his home "Hickey Farm". By 1880, there were over 20 homes in Kyle with names such as Fenton Place, Hickey Farm, Smith House (now known as Arlington Hall), Post Office (now called Main Street), White House (now known as Independence Hall), Court House (now known as Courthouse Square), Baptist Church (now known as First Baptist Church) and Health Sciences Center (now known as University Medical Center). In 1901, Albert Einstein moved toKyle and spent some time there before moving on to Morningside Heights near New York City so he could continue work on his theory of relativity while living close by without fear of interference from other Germans living in America at that time. In 1911 the first post office was established in Kyle when Robert Barnes opened up a general store next door to the old Masonic Temple on Main Street; this store continues to be open today under new ownership as Bob's Pub & Grill - which also includes a grocery store on the premises along with various dining options for those visiting Kyle). The first school was built here too - Union Elementary School which served students until 1925 when Park View Intermediate School became operational for grades 1-4 then Great Lakes Middle School until 1974 when it merged into Highland High School! The last school building erected here was Parkview Junior High School which closed down in 1976 but has been preserved as part of Heritage Museum & Art Gallery complex located just outside city limits adjacent to Texas Tech University campus! A variety of businesses have sprung up around this historically important community including restaurants like Bob's Pub & Grill/KFC/ Pizza Hut/ Wendy's/ Sonic Drive-in etc., antique stores such as Heritage Museum & Art Gallery or Mrs Dooley’s Scenic Shop(& later Laundromat) while more recent additions include Bedrock Brick Store which opened up shop inside an existing business space previously used by Old Time Baseball Cards out back - giving locals an interesting shopping opportunity unlike any they'll find elsewhere! There are also several properties within city limits where housing developments have taken place such as: Triple Crown Estates which contains three buildings totaling 6 acres +/- containing residences, two golf courses (& one being proposed for development) plus several thousand square feet (~100 dwellings) of commercial space; Circle development featuring nine homes with service areas located throughout each one (+ four additional homes currently under construction); Stonebriar Village situatd at an intersection near traffic lights between I-35W & FM 471 features 12 single family houses surrounded by a 2 acre park completed early this year complete with basketball courts tennis courts pool table room BBQ pits etc.; Cowboy Hollow subdivision including eight homes; Spring Branch Developments consisting solely of single family dwellings ~ all viewable from alleyways off side streets + satellite TV included + large kitchenettes / dinning rooms / bedrooms; these developments will soon contain retail spaces too! finally we have Wellstone Estates - developed by developers primarily comprised thereof females who own majority interest (~50%) comprising well over two hundred thousand sq ft (~300 dwellings) currently leased or soldout!] There are still many people active withinKyle today both professional and personal alike making it one of the most vibrant communities you'll likely find anywhere given its history and current state!!!
