Kingsville, Texas is a small town in the Midland County seat of Odessa. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. In addition to its downtown core, Kingsville has several smaller neighborhoods including the West Side and East Side. According to local legend, optical equipment manufacturer Adolph Rheinmetall bought land in Kingsville in 1902 and built what is now the Odessa Optical Distribution Center on it. This center became an important stop for quality products from around the world, helping to spur economic development in Kingsville and nearby towns during the early years of Optical Technology. The original Adolph Rheinmetall building still stands today as part of the King'svilleg Rd NABI ( National Agricultural District) office complex. The complex also includes a library which was opened in 1960. Today, Odessa Optical Distribution Center remains one of America's oldest continuous optical distribution centers operationally intact - serving customers across North America from one central location!

The community became known for its cotton crops and livestock production, as well as its significant distillery and cigar manufacturing businesses. By the early 21st century, Kingsville had declined into a small farming community with a few shops and restaurants. However, some redevelopment has occurred in recent years: In 2016, Kingsville opened its first medical center since it merged with Fort Worth Regional Medical Center; and in 2018, it also approved plans to build a new high school and recreation center.
Kingsville was founded in 1879 by James A. Fenton, a settler from Tennessee who named it for his Scottish father, King George. At the time, Kingsville was one of the largest settlements in Texas. The town grew rapidly because of its natural resources and its location on the Red River. In 1907, Kingsville became an incorporated municipality. In 1912, the town donated land to the Texas State Legislature to create a new state capital. As part of this donation,Kingsville gave $5,000 to help finance the construction of the Capitol Building in Austin. The townsfolk also donated labor to build the Capitol and other government facilities in Austin. In 1935, Kingsville merged with nearby Westover and formed a new city called Austin-Kingsville.
