On May 25, 1907, Kingsville incorporation as a city occurred when all six surrounding towns consolidated into one municipality under the leadership of Mayor J C Henson (1875-1957). Kingsvilley experienced significant growth during World War II as many residents enlisted in the military or served aboard ships bound for Europe or Japan. Most notably, veteran Air Force lieutenant colonel Harry Ewing played an important role in developing local munitions production which contributed significantly to victory over Japan during World War II. After the war ended and most troops returned home, economic growth slowed as new businesses opened up but resumed modestly after 2000 when oil prices began rising nationally due to increased demand from global markets. Today much of downtownKingsvilley remains unchanged from pre-war days including historic brick buildings dating back to 1865: State Capitol Annex (1885), First Baptist Church (1915), Methodist Episcopal Church (1920), and Red Cross Hall/Cafeteria (1963). Other significant historical attractions include John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum (1998) and McLennan House Museum (1986).
