In Killeen, Texas, firearms have been a part of the community for over 160 years. The first guns were made in this small town and it is still home to some of the most well-known firearm manufacturers in the country. The town's history with firearms starts with Representative James Buchanan in 1839 when he enacted a bill that allowed Texans to own and carry handguns without fear of arrest. This law was passed after John Fenton shot an unarmed man named Tom Green on Main Street in Killeen. Killeen also played a role in the Battle of San Jacinto which took place on July 6, 1836. A group of Texan militiamen attacked Mexican forces under General Antonio López de Santa Anna. The Texan force was heavily outnumbered and much weakened by disease and malnutrition, leading to their defeat at San Jacinto. After the battle, Killeen residents donated weapons to the American army which helped turn around Mexico's victory at Bexar County Bridge. Today, Killeen is home to several gun stores as well as many shooting ranges and pistolshops located throughout its downtown area. There are also several museums located within walking distance of downtown including the Alamo Museum and Preservice Armories Museum.

In Killeen, Texas, the first firearms were used in 1836. The Earls of Dallas imported rifles from England and started a rifle manufacturing company there. By 1838, they had produced over 100 rifles. Citizens of Killeen lobbied for passage of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution to protect their right to bear arms. On November 3rd, 1840, Congress passed an amendment granting Americans the right to bear arms with a few exceptions (such as teachers and law enforcement).
Killeen is a small town located in Starr County, Texas. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. The town is home to the Killeen Independent School District and the Killeen High School football team. The first people to live in what is now Killeen arrived from Mexico around 1837. The area where Killeen now stands was part oftxanagua County until 1840 when it was appointed as Starr County by the Mexican government. The first post office in what is now Killeen was established on July 1, 1849, and operated for six weeks before being closed due to lack of customers. The first settler in what is now Killeen was John Hogg who built a cabin on the banks of the Brazos River. In 1872, James Waddell arrived in what is now Killeen and began farming land which he later donated to the Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1907, J C Slaughter took over management of cattle ranching operations that were located northeast of town along Slaughter Creek/Killer Creek. Slaughter would become one of the most important figures in early community development because his ranch allowed for an open air dining experience that helped shape early American culture and society. Until World War II, local farmers produced corn, cotton, soybeans and other vegetables; however after the war there became little commercial production because technology had advanced so much elsewhere. However some items such as milk still come from these farms today including cheese made by local cowboys called "Pecos Jack" (named after Pecos Bill Bailey). As time passed more residents started moving into neighboring towns such as Garland or Conroe because they found access to schools and other amenities better here than back east where living costs were higher plus there were no restrictions on real estate purchases like transportation expenses did hereabouts back then- this helped bring about growth within our small community over time which can be seen all around us today with things like new businesses popping up all day long just off I-10 or just minutes away from our doorstep! Killeen is a small city located in the Unincorporated County of Killeen, Texas, United States. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Killeen arrived in 1871 from Missouri. The city was founded on May 20, 1907 by John A. "Red" Garland and his brothers Harry and Frank Garland. The original town plat included a square block bounded by Seventh Street to the north, Main Street to the east, Richards Boulevard to the south, and Lamar Avenue to the west. In 1912 it became an incorporated municipality with its own government and mayor/council under a one-year charter granted by then-Governor James Hogg. In 1932 it merged with Alpine Village which had been established two years earlier as a result of a merger of three smaller towns in Alpine County: Flower City (founded 1902), Park Hill (founded 1904), and White Sands (established 1907). The growth of new suburban neighborhoods such as Northlake and Manor Hills has gradually diminished downtown's population over time; however, recent annexations have seen some revitalization efforts underway including increased dining options available within walking distance of many businesses along Richards Boulevard outside of downtown – making Killeen an attractive tourist destination for visitors from around Austin as well as other nearby cities.
Killeen was founded in 1874 by Captain H.C. Killeen and his wife, Belle. The first post office in the town was established in 1875. In 1899, the city of Killeen was incorporated and it continued to grow until 1965 when it merged with Temple City to form the current metropolitan area known as Temple City-Killeen.
