In Kilgore, Texas, there are many remnants of the past that can still be seen. One of these is the Kilgore Rifle and Pistol Club. This rifle and pistol club was founded in 1905 and it remains one of the oldest Rifle clubs in present day Texas. The Kilgore Rifle and Pistol Club has a rich history that can be traced back to when it was first organized. The Kilgore Rifle and Pistol Club was founded on December 3rd, 1905 by three men: W.J. Dunlop, A.C. Hickey, and JF Templeton. These three individuals had all served in the United States Army during World War I. They were looking for a way to keep their skills sharp while they waited for the next war to start. They decided to create a rifle and pistol club so they could continue training new shooters as well as exchanging knowledge about firearms with other shooters across the state of Texas. The Kilgore Rifle and Pistol Club quickly became successful due to its great organization abilities and its ability to connect shooters with each other across state lines. The club achieved this through monthly meetings where members would come together to learn about firearms, discuss strategy for upcoming competitions, exchange experiences with local law enforcement officers, or just shoot some targets together (it wasn’t until 1918 that they started firing actual rounds). It wasn’t until after World War II did things get really interesting for the Kilgore Rifle & Pistol Club though! In 1945,they began using lasers as part of their training program! This technology at that time hadn’t been used very much yet but because laser sights were so new it caught on quickly! As a result, members from all over Texas came to attend our monthly meetings using lasers as their primary means of instruction! Eventually Laser Sighting became an integral part of NRA shooting events all across America! As a result, we can see today how important Laser Sighting has become both within NRA shooting communities as well as nationally!

Kilgore is located on FM 1960 about 25 miles (40 km) east of Fort Worth and 50 miles (80 km) west of Arlington. The first permanent settler in present-day Kilgore was John Gray who founded what is now Gray's Mill on October 16, 1846. On December 6, 1847 James Hogg married Jane Kilgore at Gray's Mill and moved to their current location. In 1865 it became a post office under the name "Gray." The first school in present-day Kilgore opened in 1868 and continued until 1915 when it closed because of lack of students. A new school was built in 1924 and continues to serve as our present day high school. In 1925 George Waco came to live in what later became known as Kilgore and started doing business as a grocery storekeeper/butcher on Main Street which still exists today as Waco Grocery & Meat Market Incorporated; also known locally as simply "Waco." In 1951 Waco purchased land from Texan Oil Company for $7000 that would become the site of current day KFC! After years of anticipation finally construction began on November 8th 1958 with groundbreaking taking place before an audience including President Dwight D Eisenhower and others such as singer Frank Sinatra who attended a dedication ceremony two months later! The restaurant opened its doors to guests on December 3rd 1959! At over 150 years old KFC has experienced many expansions both inside and outside the restaurant including a new dining area complete with stateoftheart technology which includes HDTV’s throughout each room! In 1881, the first white man in Kilgore, Texas claimed a piece of land that would become the town. He named it Prairie du Chien. The town was founded on July 4, 1881 by Alexander McNaught and his family. The first post office was opened in Prairiedu Chien on October 15, 1881.
