In 1915, Jock Sutherland founded Sutherland Motors which became one of the largest truck companies in North America before selling operations to GM in 1955. On November 7th 1951 local voters passed an ordinance establishing a municipally run water system which provided fluoridated water to all residents without paying for said service through private providers starting January 1st 1952 effective until May 31st 1954 when municipal services were turned over to PG&E effective June 1 st 1954 On December 6th 1953local voters passed an ordinance establishing a golf course within town limits

During World War II, Kilgore served as an airfield for military purposes; during this time it also became known as "The Workshop" because many local businesses operated at the airport including munitions plants and aircraft manufacturing companies such as Lockheed Martin Company (LMT). After the war ended in 1945, kilgores economy slowly declined throughout the late 1940s due to a variety of factors including post-war recessionary economic conditions and a lack of new investment opportunities withinMidland County overall. In recent years however some new development has begun to take shape within Kilgore considering its potential growth yet again into one of Midland County's most vibrant communities once again! One such example is Lubbock-based KXAS Broadcasting Corporation which announced plans back on January 11th 2019 to move their corporate headquarters from Lubbock to downtown KilgORE! This exciting news marks another major step forward for downtown KilgORE which has long been undervalued by other businesses based simply upon its location alone!
