Kerrville is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 3,536 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Hudspeth County. The name Kerrville is derived from the Spanish word "cerrilla" meaning "border" or "edge". The area that would become Kerrville was settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The first store in what is now known as Kerrville opened its doors on Main Street in 1905. In 1915, the first post office in what would become Kerrville opened its doors. By 1920, there were nine businesses in Kerrville employing over fifty people. By 1930, there wereeleven businesses employing over seventy people. The oil boom of 1949-1951 changed everything for Kerrville and for many of its residents. Prior to that time, most of the industry had been conducted by local farmers who used their land for subsistence purposes only. With oil revenue starting to flow bonanza style from 1951 through 1962, new development began to grow around town and more businesses opened up including restaurants and nightlife venues such as an all-night cafe called the Double Trouble Inn and a drive-in movie theater called Circuit City Drive-In Theatre which still operates today (closed Dec 2016). As demand grew for housing during this time period, prices for properties within town exploded with some homeowners earning six figures per year owning homes valued anywhere from $100K to $1 million dollars! This growth led to traffic congestion on State Highway 620 which became notorious among locals due to its snail pace during peak hours; however this did not stop developers from continuing to build new homes throughout much of downtown while also expanding services available within town limits such as a library and three convenience stores/ gas stations! During the late 1990s and early 2000s there was significant redevelopment taking place throughout downtown with both commercial buildings being replaced with larger multifamily dwellings as well as several large retail storefronts being renovated into multiplexes like Regal Cinemas (now AMC) - home of Dallas Cowboys games since 1941 - along with several new parks being constructed downtown including one containing a miniature golf course! Today it remains one of the most vibrant areas in town with plenty of activities happening daily without ever feeling too crowded or overwhelming!

Kerrville is a small town in Webb County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The first settlers in Kerrville were people from Illinois who came overland to the area in 1841. They named their settlement after Colonel John W. Kerr, a U.S. Army officer who had fought in the Mexican–American War and been decorated for his heroism. In 1847, General James Kenedy built a log cabin on what is now Harmon Avenue and named it Kerrville after himself and his brother-in-law, George Atherton Kerr (1784-1867). The Kerr sisters founded the first school in 1851; it was called First Baptist Church until 1862 when they moved it to its present location on Commerce Street. On December 25, 1870, President Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order proclaiming Texas a republic; this event is generally considered to be the beginning of Kerrville's growth as a townspeople began to move into the area for political reasons and to escape slavery under Confederate rule
Kerrville was founded in 1876 by John Kerr and his family. The Kerr family ran a successful cotton plantation here for many years. In the late 1800s, Kerrville became an important cattle market due to its vast amounts ofanches and grasslands. Today, the town retains much of its original culture and history, including a large number of schools and businesses.
