In 1912, a man named George P. Kerr started manufacturing bullets in the small town of Kerrville, Texas. The company continued to produce bullets until it was bought by Remington Arms in 1923. In 1973, Remington merged with Winchester Firearms Company and the Kerrville Bullets business became part of that company. Today, the Kerrville Bullets brand is still produced by Remington Arms and is sold throughout the United States. A new school was built and named "Kerrville Township School" which served students from kindergarten through third grade until it closed in 1944. A fire destroyed most of the town on October 6, 1914; however, $10,000 were raised to rebuild the town with an all-new schoolhouse and courthouse which opened on November 1, 1915. In 1916, when World War I started around America there were predictions that as many as 100% of Texans would serve in military because they needed food to support their families back home war-time rationing became even more stringent than before due to scarcity of resources following Germany's defeat during World War I . However only 2% or so actually served out service while 96% returned home with paychecks! Since then many changes have taken place within Kerrville including annexations by other towns such as New Braunfels (1928), Lubbock (1948), Temple (1967) and now Round Rock (2015). That being said much remains unchanged including its closeknit community spirit that has helped make it one of America’s fastest growing communities over recent decades – thanks to its thriving entrepreneurial spirit!
