Keller, Texas is a city located in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 581 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Midland County. The city was founded in 1876 by John Keller and other settlers from Illinois. The first post office in Keller opened in 1877. In 1907, the city incorporated as a municipality. In 1912, Keller became an unincorporated community withinMidland County. As of the 2010 census, Keller had a total population of 697 residents.[1] The history of Keller begins with John Keller who settled there in 1876 after returning from his journey to California. He named the town after himself and his son Charles J., also known as "Jocko." Many businesses were established here during its early years including a grocery store, bank and hitching post. By 1910, many new homes had been built in the town center including two churches (St Joseph's Episcopal Church and First Baptist). This growth continued until World War II when most of the buildings were destroyed by fire or bombed by Japanese forces during their occupation of Midland County. Afterward, much progress was made to rebuild but again came hard times due to economic recession which affected all sectors of society including recreation; however things have started to improve lately with some exciting new development projects on the horizon for both local citizens and visitors alike!
