One such pioneer was John Witherspoon, who settled here around 1871 after leaving his home on Long Island for unknown reasons. He erected a cabin and began trading goods with Native Americans near what is now downtown Keller. By 1893, Witherspoon's descendants were living here with him and their families when another early settler named George Hargrave moved into what is now northern Kerr County about this same time frame. By 1905 Hargrave had two stores/businesses and five homes standing on his land that he called "Hargrave's Landing." In 1907, when local government annexing neighboring towns became possible due to state legislation being passed that year, Keller grew rapidly thanks to annexation by New Braunfels which happened just months later! Today there are over 2,000 residents living within easy reach of downtown; making it one ofieth largest cities within Texas! As important as hosting its share of statewide events – such as Texas A&M Aggie football games – as well as serving as an industrial center for all things related to agriculture throughout much of its history (eagerly accepted by other surrounding municipalities), today’s Keller still features vibrant small businesses and eateries dotting every corner!
