The grimes families farmed land around what is now downtown Jacksonville until they built a stockade around 1856 to keep out squatters looking for free land near Corpus Christi on San Jacinto Bayou which would have included their farmstead along with other farmers’ fields that lay within present day Downtown Jacksonville proper today between 4th Street southward on 3rd Avenue eastward on 2nd Street northward towards Interstate 10/Uptown Parkway which carvers will know as Trinity Place today because it once was home to one of Stonington’s largest cotton ginners named Jnoah Gentry who operated it from this location beginning about 1830 until his property was taken over by Robert Jones Sr./Jones & Sons Refining Company operations sometime before 1914 when this site became part of the Post Office Building lot next door where we are standing today across from City Hall up on High Street
