Gun swivels have been around for centuries, and in Jacksonville, Texas they are an important part of the Firearms Industry. Gun swivels were first patented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. The gun swivel was invented to allow a firearm's barrel to rotate easily within its housing. This prevented the barrel from becoming stuck in a Shooting Cup or other obstruction while being fired. The early firearms industry used a variety of different types of barrels that required different types of gunswitches to rotate them successfully. By 1885, all firearms manufacturers had adopted the use of a standard King T type gun-swivel locknut on all barrels which would require alteration to fit any new magazine capacity or type of ammunition being sold. After World War I, when rifles became more prevalent and magazines became more common with guns, many restrictions were placed on the sale and possession of artillery weapons such as machineguns and mortars because their barrels could not be rotated without modification. As a result, many old artillery weapons were auctioned off during this time including some original Swivel Guns! In 1947, Swivel Guns was reorganized into two companies; Richards & Swivel Corporation and Barker Manufacturing Company Incorporated. Barker Manufacturing Company made both pistol grip shotguns (Barker M1) and rifle belts (Barker RK5) under license from Richards & Swivel Corporation which also manufactured handgun grips (Richards &Swiveler Pistol Grip), stocks (Richards &Swiverler Rifle Stock), triggers (Richards &Swiverler Trigger), sights (Richards &Swiverler Sight System), bolts (Barker Bolt Carrier Group) and parts for other firearms products such as shotguns(Barker Hammerless Action Shotguns). In 1951 Richards&Swivver Corporation merged with International Harvester Company Limited creating what is now Taylor Arms Holdings Incorporated .

Jacksonville, Texas is a city in and the county seat of Starr County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Brazos River in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The area that now Jacksonville was first settled by Texans in 1836 as part of what would become Shreveport. By 1840, it had been renamed for General Andrew Jackson and by 1845 it had replaced Shreveport as the capital of Louisiana Territory. In 1848, after Mexican American War victory over Antonio López de Santa Anna's forces at San Jacinto (now Austin), General Sam Houston took control of East Texas from Mexico and named Jacksonville his provisional capital. On August 12, 1849 Houston made permanent Jacksonville its capital with a resolution proclaiming that "the present name of this place is [Jacksonville] to be forever retained" In 1861 during Confederate Invasion of Texas there were skirmishes between Confederate troops loyal to Jefferson Davis and Union troops under James Ewell Morton who had taken up arms against the Confederacy because he felt that he was being forced to support a slave state while his home state remained Union. On November 10th Federal soldiers burned down Jacksonville's courthouse which effectively ended any hope for Reconstruction in Mississippi during those days before African Americans were finally given their due rights by US District Judge Webster Coleman following passage of Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution on December 6th 1865. The area became known as "The Black Belt" around Jacksonville due to this event which helped contribute heavily to its rapid growth during Post-Civil War years thanks largely to an influx of Irish immigrants who worked hardIFeather into cotton-growing areas along the riverfront including today's downtown core where many businesses are still operated unchanged since then such as Hooters Restaurant & Bar which opened back in 1926 according to their website
Gun swivels have been around since the late 1800s, but only recently has their use in firearms become prevalent. At first, gun swivels were used to rotate the barrels of handguns so that they could be aimed in any direction. However, this method of Aiming was not perfect and caused inaccuracy. To overcome this problem, a new design was developed which involved using two spinning disks to rotate the barrel. This method of Aiming allowed for much more accurate fire and also eliminated some of the problems with rotating the barrel. Gun swivels became popularized after their use in the American Civil War. During that time, guns were equipped with multiple barrels and it was necessary to aim them all in order to effectively fight against Confederate forces.

In 1836, Jacksonville was founded as a town by members of the Texas Rangers under colonel John Neely Bryan and named for James Fenton Jackson, an American general who had fought in Mexico against Santa Anna's Mexican army. The citys growth slowed over time due to its location on the Red River near Wichita Falls, which formed a natural border between what were then two independent United States colonies—Texas and Arkansas—andmade it difficult for merchants to transport goods from one side to the other. In 1859, during the American Civil War, Confederate forces burned down parts of Jacksonville while Union troops defended it; this destroyed most of the citys infrastructure and drove many residents away. After restoration efforts by Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston in 1865, Jacksonville became one of Reconstruction South Carolina's most prosperous cities before returning to Texas in 1870 when most African Americans were expelled from that state following passage of The Ku Klux Klan Act (1890). After Reconstruction ended in 1896, Jaguars fortunes improved because white Texans began moving out of their ancestral state; however, they have been relatively stable since then economically speaking. The current mayor is Karen Stroud-Ivey with a four-year term effective July 1 2019 through June 30 2021
