Many homes were destroyed or damaged including those belonging to Mayor Aiken and his family! By 1955-1956 (the 70th anniversary of incorporation), Irving had only 8 residents living inside its walls; however it continued to grow due to various industry expansions such as poultry farming and oil Refining! As part of this growth period (known as "The Golden Age"), many new businesses were established such as Stroud’s grocery store which opened up next door in 1957 and remains operational today! Today,Irving continues to be an important community with multiple businesses operating throughout the day including several restaurants/cafes along with large banks/brokerages!. There are also numerous art galleries located throughout downtown which attract locals and visitors alike each month
