Hutto, Texas is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 7,874 as of the 2010 census. Hutto is the county seat and also home to the only courthouse in Williamson County. The community was founded in 1881 by railroad men looking for a place to establish a depot. Hutto became an important center for cotton farming and cattle ranching during the early years of white settlement in Williamson County. The post office was established here in 1892, and saw continued growth until it closed its doors in 1970 due to competition from other larger towns. Today, Hutto remains a small fishing village with few commercial interests and limited industry outside of agriculture. The first settlers who arrived in what is now Hutto were railroadsmen looking for new land to build tracks on after completing their survey of this area which included much of present-day Williamson County. They named their new town Hutto after one of their original surveyed boundaries, "Hutchinson's Hill." In 1881, they erected a pole barn on the northern edge of what is now Hutto Village at what would later become known as "Hutchinson's Hill". That same year construction began on the first courthouse in Williamson County which still stands today at 12th Street and Hickory Avenue. While other towns quickly emerged around these initial settlements (such as Tomball and Fairview), hutto grew slowly until it overtook those smaller communities by 1910 when it had a population of 10 residents compared to Tomball's 15 residents and Fairview's 25 residents. This slow growth can be traced back to several factors: 1) relatively small size - only 2 square miles compared to Tomball’s 6 square miles and 5 square miles forFairview; 2) lack of transportation - hutsot only had one train per day running into town from elsewhere; 3) low agricultural production - most crops grown here were used for animal husbandry or dairy products; 4) difficulty getting water rights - there was no spring available deep enough even for hand watered gardens; 5) difficult terrain - hills made access difficult from many directions; 6) high school not yet established - pupils operated out-of-town schools until well into 1920s.; 7) tight financial squeeze – when railways stopped bringing passengers through town frequently, local farmers turned increasingly to raising livestock instead; 8) high demand from Anglos moving into rural areas – while some families did move away completely during World War I because they could no longer afford wartime tuition prices, most ones left moved back into rural areas once hostilities ended;; 9) decline after World War II – although postwar growth brought increased development including two hospitals (one opened in 1966), substantial housing developments (e.g., Pruitt Ranch Estates), major shopping malls (6 along Loop 610 South between San Angelo Avenue/Shaw Boulevard/Highway 183A & Waco Road), etc., huttop declined somewhat during the late 1960s through 1980s before rebounding somewhat during 1990s thru 2000s.; 10) recent resurgence – starting around 2006 with passage of legislation authorizing plans for a new high school campus adjacent to existing Pruitt Ranch Estates development,[2] Huttop has seen significant revitalization with numerous businesses opening up downtown since then.;

On July 25, 1949, President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 9598 which renamed the entire Dallas-Fort Worth-Archer City region "Hutto", effective July 26th This order included all oil refineries within 100 miles (160 km) of Dallas/Fort Worth and Arroyo Hills outside those same boundaries - Arroyo Hills then became Mexico Beach on December 12th 1951 while Mexico Beach reverted back to its original name after being acquired by Arroyo Hills from Pasadena on August 15th 1958. In 1954-1955 Hurricane Bebe caused extensive damage throughout Wichita Falls; much of which was repaired or replaced with replanning over time - including reopening most businesses that had closed during that time period due primarily to lack of business interruption insurance or other funding sources available at that time. Hutto experienced major growth following World War II when vast amounts of new jobs were created in defense industries across the country due to increasing demand for munitions worldwide; however this growth stopped abruptly beginning in the late 1960s as military spending decreased and technological advancements replaced many manufacturing jobs with more automated processes
