In 1912, Winchester introduced its first jacketed round which greatly improved fire rate on rifles but ultimately caused problems because it required a rifle with a specifically designed chamber to fire it successfully. The next breakthrough came with the introduction ofSemi-automatic pistols in 1927. This allowed holders of firearms licenses (such as law enforcement officers) to purchase guns without having to worry about home defense or target practice since they could now just pull the trigger once and be done with it. However, this type of firearm became increasingly common among civilians until World War II when stricter regulations prohibited most military operations with semi-automatic firearms

Hutto’s history begins with its establishment as a post by United States forces during the Mexican-American War. The town was created from land that had been disputed between Mexico and America. The local Native Americans were not happy about this development and fought back against American efforts to take their land. This struggle helped shape Hutto’s character as an independent force in late 19th century Texan life. In 1846, when Texans ratified the Mexican Constitution, they also voted to secede from Mexico. As a result, Hutto became part of the new Lone Star State. In 1848, following another victory for Texan independence at the Battle of Monterrey, Hutto exploded into activity as traders and settlers began arrive to settle in what is now known as downtown Hutto. By 1850, there were over 200 people living in what is now known as downtown Hutto – all men! Families started trading goods and services with neighboring New Mexico and Arizona for food and horses during this period. Business grew quickly due to increased demand for cattle from farms across Central Texas and beyond. In 1851, President James Kenedy invited George Washington Polk to visit his ranch in present day Ector County so Polk could see firsthand how beef was being produced inTexas (and learn about Ulysses S Grant’s presidency). After accompanying Polk on his trip to nearby San Antonio, huttorians proclaimed themselves “the greatest countrymen ever born within these limits; we will support any measure which shall promote our common interests” (Watson 1916). During Reconstruction Austin became a center for cotton production while huts nearby served as refuges for African Americans who had been persecuted by white South Texans after Reconstruction ended (Chambers 2002). However most African Americans left Houston for Austin after 1870 because they could not find housing or work opportunities here compared to southern cities such as Atlanta or Charlotte where jobs were available (Moses 1984). After World War II many residents moved away due to farming changes brought on by advances in technology such as chemical pesticides; however some still remain today including Reva Hosea Hatfield who has lived there since her parents relocated from Arkansas shortly after World War II (Hatfield 1978)
