Hurst, Texas is a small town located in the Midwestern United States. The town was founded in 1881 by J.M. Hurst and his wife, Elizabeth. The population of Hurst was 553 at the 2000 census. In 1907, the city of Fort Worth annexed part of what is now Hurst. The history of Hurst begins with J.M. Hurst and his wife Elizabeth who settled in the area around 1881. They initially named their settlement Godfrey after one of their children and friends from high school who resided in that area at the time, but changed it to Hurst because that's what they found on their travels through this region looking for land to settle on. J M & E incurred many expenses while trying to find land to farm so they decided to build themselves a log cabin instead which became their home until 1889 when they moved into an existing frame house which still stands today on Main Street in downtown Hurston- just two blocks south of where IGA currently stands! In 1907, Fort Worth annexed part of what is now Hurst as part of its annexation process following the end of World War 1; however, due to lack of residents/dwellers living within its boundaries (mainly because there were not enough schools or businesses), Fort Worth did not annex much else fromHurston other than some new streets and a few churches! As time passed various families moved into and out of Currieville before finally settling down here permanently around 1942 when Mrs Burrell came across some good land east side Road 6 about 4 miles north west of her original homestead - she immediately started building up her little community here! It wasn’t until 1951 when Miss Llewellyn purchased some more land east side Rd 6 from Mrs Burrell – giving us our present day name “Hurst”! Over the years we’ve seen everything from cotton farms turned into shopping malls full Of More Than Just Cotton; To A Wide variety Of Businesses Now Operating Here Including A Bank, A Pizza place And A Deputy Sheriff’s substation !!!!! What a great community we have today !!!!!
